Who is Billie Eilish and How Old is She?

Eilish was born on the 18th of December 2001 in Los Angeles, California. Unsurprisingly, Billie hails from an artistic family – while her mother Maggie Baird is an actress, as well as a songwriter, her father Patrick O’Connell, on the other hand, is a film and television series actor whose works include roles in Baskets, The West Wing, Life Inside Out and Iron Man.

Before Billie was born, her parents had her brother Finneas O’Connell on the 30th of July 1997. Finneas didn’t fall far from the family’s artistic tree either as he has since 2011 led a career as an entertainer. He sings, writes songs, produces records and also acts.

Eilish started singing at a young age and became a member of a children’s choral group in Los Angeles before she was ten years old. By the time she was eleven, she had started to write songs, some on her own and others in collaboration with her brother who had already been writing and performing with a band.

Though she has mentioned that while growing up, hip hop had been her favorite genre of music, she has had a wide array of influences, some of whom include The Beetles, Justin Bieber, and Childish Gambino. Some others include Lana Del Rey and Lorde whose styles have often been compared to hers.

How Did Billie Eilish Become Famous?

The widely acclaimed song, Ocean Eyes was Eilish’s ticket to stardom. It all began in October 2015 with her brother Finneas writing the song for his band to perform and wound up giving it to his sister who recorded the song and it turned out to be one of her best.

Soon after the song was released and uploaded on online music platform SoundCloud, her audience began to grow. With the release of a video for the song in 2016, her fan base grew even further and reached a critical mass that some established record labels took notice and she got herself a deal with The Darkroom and Interscope Records. That same year, Ocean Eyes made it into the Billboard Hot 100.
