The ugliest man in the world is a Ugandan man named Godfrey Baguma. Godfrey’s physical appearance is so grotesque that the Guinness World Record recognizes him as the world’s Mr.Ugly. He was born with a clinical condition known as Fibrodysplasia which has altered his facial appearance over the years, leaving him with big lumps in some parts of his face.

Apart from Godfrey, we have a plethora of men who have been listed as really ugly, including the likes of Jason Schechterle, Joshua Glen Box, Etienne Dumont, and several others.

1. Godfrey Baguma

The position of the ugliest man in the world goes to none other than Godfrey Baguma. Godfrey is a shoemaker who doubles as a singer. He comes from Uganda in the Black continent of Africa. Many years back, the title of the world’s ugliest man was rotated from one bizarre-looking man to the other until Guinness World Record bestowed it on Godfrey Baguma due to the man’s disproportioned look.

For the record, Godfrey was not born ugly. The Ugandan came into the world as a normal child but as time rolled by, it was discovered that his face was changing and was beginning to look rather strange. Reports submitted by a medical practitioner in Uganda named Tony Wilson (he worked at the Mbarara health facility in the country’s western region) revealed that Baguma suffers from the clinical condition known as Fibrodysplasia.

The condition continues to distort its sufferer’s features until the person ends up looking like a strange creature. It directly affects a person’s growth including the placement of cell tissues and the resultant abnormality is widespread, extending to the head and some portions of the brain. In Godfrey’s case, the disease deformed his entire face leaving him with big lumps in some parts.

One good aspect of Godfrey’s condition is that it isn’t genetic. What this means is that the Ugandan native can still have good-looking children who would not inherit his condition. Though Fibrodysplasia has no total cure, it can be managed by doctors who administer medication from time to time. However, Godfrey’s greatest challenge is that he is a poor man who can barely make ends meet and that was what led him to enlist in the GWR contest for the World’s Ugliest Man context which he won.

2. Jason Schechterle

Occupying the number two slot on our list of the ugliest man in the world is an American man who goes by the name Jason Schechterle. Jason worked with the government as a police officer before he left to become an author. The former cop also doubles as a public/inspirational speaker.

Jason was born as a normal child without any visible deformity. However, he met a major tragedy while he was serving his country as a police officer. On one black day in 2001, the former cop was on duty patrolling his unit when he had a ghastly motor accident and almost died.

The ensuing story revealed that the vehicle Jason was driving had a head-on collision with a taxi and both burst into flame. Jason who couldn’t get out immediately suffered the full brunt of the fire and ended up with fourth-degree burns. When they eventually took him to the hospital, his condition was so bad that the physicians had to practically remove the man’s face.

Jason’s new face after he came out of hospital led the Weekly World News to list him among the World’s Ugliest Men which led to a legal battle between them. Jason eventually won the case and today, the former cop is regarded as an inspiration and a hero. The keynote speaker has inspired millions of people never to quit but to continue pushing no matter how gloomy things may look.

Through his book entitled Burning Shield, Jason recounted his ordeal to the world. We must also note that he was already a family man prior to his tragic accident and his wife and children threw their weights behind him throughout his ordeal.

3. Joshua Glen Box

Joshua Glen Box takes the number three spot on our list of the ugliest men in the world. Joshua is a native of Springdale, Arkansas, United States of America, however, nothing much is known about him. His career path has never been mentioned in the public space and nothing has been said about the man’s family background.

The available tale about Joshua labeled him a child predator. In 2015, the Arkansas native was arraigned in court and slammed with charges bordering on child pornography. The details of the case were never made public but it had a dire effect on the defendant. It was later revealed that Joshua made an attempt to take his own life; he shot himself in the face and though it wasn’t fatal, his face suffered the consequences of his action.

The gunshot practically removed his nose which earned him the moniker, “Man without a nose”. Joshua came to the limelight sometime in 2018 and since then, the Arkansas native has made the list of the world’s ugliest men because of his facial deformity.

With that said, we must acknowledge the fact that Joshua was not born ugly but only made the list because of his self-inflicted facial scares.

4. Etienne Dumont

Our list of the ugliest men in the world extends to include Etienne Dumont who works and earns a living as a literary critic. The man is a native of Canada.

One important fact to note about Dumont is that he was not born ugly. However, at a point in his life, he made the conscious decision to start undergoing a series of surgeries in a bid to make himself ugly. When quizzed about his reasons for taking such a decision, Etienne responded that his aim was to always be outstanding and to look totally different from every other human being.

To achieve his weird aim, Etienne went under the knife to implant silicone under his skin. His ear tunnel now sports a five-centimeter ring, and we are yet to factor in the man’s pinned glasses that give him the appearance of a young bull.

As if the above mentioned were not enough, Dumont went on to ink every inch of his body. 99 percent of the man’s body from head to toe is reportedly bathed in bizarre tattoos that give him a rather frightening appearance. Getting on the list of the ugliest man in the world was like a battle for Dumont and he actually won it with his number four slot.

5. Michael Berryman

Right from his formative years, American actor Michael Berryman has always earned a place on the list of the ugliest boy in the world. The entertainer came into the world with a rare medical condition known as hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia. The ailment is characterized by some physical anomalies, including the absence of hair nails, and most especially, sweat glands.

It is Berryman’s condition that is responsible for the actor’s grotesque looks. The actor may be downright ugly but he is shrewd enough to leverage his looks in making a name for himself in the movie world. He has landed roles in several horror movies that a man with a normal appearance cannot dream of getting. A good instance is his depiction of the character of Pluto on the set of The Hills Have Eyes. He has portrayed other creepy characters in several movies, including An Evil Undertaker and A Mutual Biker. He has played a monster in several other productions.

Michael is now a Septuagenarian and may have retired from the big screen, but the memorable roles he played in the movies will be forever remembered, especially by movie lovers who grew up around the 1970s and early 80s.

The list of the ugliest men in the world would not be deemed complete without paying homage to Rick Genest. Rick is a Canadian by nationality and earned a living as a model.

Rick’s birth details revealed that he was born with osteogenesis imperfecta; this is a rare medical condition that is characterized by multiple bone fractures. He suffered a lot of fractures throughout his growing-up years which affected his physical appearance greatly.

In addition to his medical condition, Rick did a good job of tattooing all parts of his anatomy with inscriptions that made him resemble a corpse. Also known as “Zombie Boy,” Rick left home in 2006 and was living alone when he crossed paths with fashion designer Nicola Formichetti four years later in 2010.

Nicola was instrumental in making Genest a prominent figure in the world of fashion, thanks to his unique physical features which according to the model inspires self-acceptance and helps him embrace his individuality.

Out of 35, he emerged the winner which earned him a well-deserved spot in the category of the ugliest man in the world. For his effort, Sere received the grand the grand prize of $500k. He defeated William Masivinu to earn the crown but William would not let him be and has been coming out to reclaim his title to no avail.

After he emerged as the winner of the ugly man context, the Harare, Zimbabwe native received a lot of criticism from people who opined that Sere was only grotesque when he opened his mouth. This was because of the irregular shape of his dentition with quite a good number of his teeth missing.

Because of his irregular dentition, Sere is only able to produce what has been tagged an “ugly smile”. This is why he is often tagged as “the man with the ugly smile”. While it may be true that Sere only appears more grotesque when he opens his mouth, the Harare native was really out to dethrone Masivilu in the 2015 context by creating the ideal appalling appearance on the stage with an overall that was badly torn.

8. Erics Sprague

Eric Sprague is an American performer professionally known as the Lizardman. From what is obvious, Eric really lives up to his stage moniker as he has all parts of his body covered in different kinds of tattoos. Apart from his body inscription, the reptile man, as he is sometimes called, has undergone a good number of body modifications. The lizard man inked his lips green, lengthened his earlobes and septum, and there is also his green scales tattoos which reportedly took 700 hours to achieve.

Erick studied philosophy and was already a Ph.D. student when he decided to drop everything for the weird lifestyle. Despite his grotesque body modifications, the Lizardman has gained a lot of popularity with an increasing number of followers on his social media accounts.

9. Williams Masvinu

Williams Masvinu was the holder of the title of the ugliest man in Zimbabwe before he was dethroned by Sere in 2015. Needless to say, Williams is also from Zimbabwe. He stands out in the crowd because of his facial expressions and prominent nose.

When the Zimbabwean ugliest man competition started in 2009, Williams Masvinu was among the top contenders and won the title for three consecutive years in 2012, 2013, and 2014 till he lost in 2015 and the prize money of $500k had to go to Sere when led him to come all out in protest.

However, his previous wins stand as one of William’s greatest life achievements and the attached prize money did a good job of bettering his living condition. To date, no one knows what the Harare native does for a living as he is merely listed as a celebrity and perhaps one wouldn’t be wrong to tag him an ugly pageant.

Many may think that being too grotesque holds no advantage in a man’s life but people like Williams Masvinu seem to have proved otherwise. Earning the Mr. Ugly title three times in a row earned him a good number of lucrative endorsement deals that have gone to boost his prize money in the three contexts that he won.

10. Kala Kaiwi

With his weird silicon-implanted horns, nearly fully covered tattoos, and snake-like tongue, Kala Kaiwi has a frightening appearance like something you would see in a nightmare. Thanks to his grotesque looks, the man earned a place on the ugliest man in the world list.

The first instinct people have after meeting Kala is to run for cover but the man is reportedly very kind and always willing to help people in need. His physical look is said to be the complete opposite of the content of his heart. Though ugly, Kala’s beauty lies in his character.

He earns his living as a tattoo artist in Hilo, Hawaii, running the Sin City Body Modification and Tattoo shop. His name has entered the Guinness World Record for having the largest non-surgically created stretch earlobes. He also has his tongue split like that of a snake; Kala reportedly did this by himself with the aid of dental floss.

He created tunnels on his nostrils and lower lip, bolt holes stamped on his forehead sporting screwed-in spikes, and silicone horn implants on his head. The man also sports tattooed eyeballs and tattooed eyebrows.
