A former NFL star, Hines Ward has played for the Pittsburgh Steelers which he remained with since he made his NFL draft in 2008 until his retirement in 2011. Hines Ward was born as Hines Edward Ward Jr. on March 8, 1976, in Seoul, South Korea. For his ethnicity, while his father is African-American, his mother is Korean and because of that, he has always been very close to the Korean culture and people.

It was there in Seoul that he began his life with his mother until he was a year old when she finally decided they had to leave, fearing the xenophobic challenges that her son would later face.

Having left Seoul, Hines and his mother settled in the United States in Atlanta where as a single mother, she took up many jobs to train him. It was there in Atlanta that he was brought up.

For his education, Ward attended the Forest Park High School and from here, he moved to the University of Georgia.

He played for the University of Georgia Bulldogs from 1994 to 1997 and in 1998, he made the NFL Draft and was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers for which he would continue to play until the end of his career in 2011.

Apart from setting the record for the all-time highest receiver with the Steelers, he has won the Super Bowl with the team in 2005 and 2008. The wide receiver was voted the MVP during the 2005 Super Bowl. In addition to these, Ward made it to 4 Pro Bowls and 3 Second team All-pro.

The parents of Hines Ward are Kim Young He and Hines Ward Sr. While his father is African-American, his mother is from South Korea. He was brought up by his mother alone who worked many years to provide the best of life for her son and continued working after he made it in life.

The former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver has been married twice thus far. His first marriage was to Simone Ward whom he was said to have dated since both were teenagers. They married in 2004 and by 2010, they were already divorced, even though they had a son, Jaden together.

His next marriage was to his present wife, Lindsey Georgalas-Ward whom he married in 2014. The two began dating in 2011 before finally deciding to tie the knot as man and wife.

Although he only has a son, Ward has noted that he will ensure that unlike himself, his son would grow up with his father around.
