We live in a time when people irrespective of their age and what they do, can get famous overnight once whatever they did or are known for goes viral on the internet. For Danielle Bregoli who is also known as Bhad Bhabie (stage name), this is one half the story of her popularity. She got famous when a video meme and catchphrase of her’s went viral on the internet. She has since then nurtured her newfound fame to build a growing music career. Seeing all that Danielle has achieved, a lot of her admirers and would-be fans keep asking the question “how old is Danielle Bregoli?” In this article, we answered just that and also told the story of how she got famous without trading off the juicy details for something else.
Danielle Bregoli’s Early Life and Background
Bhad Bhabie or Danielle Bregoli (depending on which you are more familiar with) was born on the 26th day of March in the year 2003. Her birthplace is Boynton Beach, Florida in the United States of America. Thus, she is an American national. Danielle’s parents are Barbara Ann Bregoli (mother) who has Italian, Norwegian, and Irish roots while her father Ira Peskowitz is Polish Ashkenazi Jew. Her parents dated for a year during which she was conceived, however, after she was born and still an infant, her parents separated. Bhad’s mother raised her as a single parent in the Roman Catholic Christian faith. Though her mother’s occupation is not known, her father reportedly works for the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Danielle as reports have it, is estranged from her father.
Growing up, Danielle was very close to her mother who still remains the closest person to her ever since she was born. When her mother got seriously ill, she was always by her side and hardly ever left her till she got better. However, growing up and as a teenager, Bhad Bhabie had lots of troubles with herself.
Danielle Bregoli would sometimes run away from home only to get into trouble outside. As this went on, her mother sought help. Her quest to find a solution to her daughter’s recurrent problems got her on Dr. Phil’s show. On the show, Bhad Bhabie then a 13-year-old presented herself as a rude girl with a language problem in addition to having a bad frame of mind. However, despite these being undesirables, it was the very thing that got Danielle famous.
Rise to Fame
The 14th day of September 2016 is a day that will probably remain memorable to the Bregoli’s. It was on that day that the then 13-year-old Danielle Bregoli and her mother Barbara Ann Bregoli featured on Dr. Phil’s show in the segment “I Want To Give Up My Car-Stealing, Knife-Wielding, Twerking 13-Year-Old Daughter Who Tried To Frame Me For A Crime”. To tell you how enormous Danielle’s problems were, while an episode of the show was being filmed, she stole a crew member’s car.
When Danielle Bregoli finally got on the show, her car-stealing penchant was the focal point of the discussion because she saw nothing wrong with taking someone else’s car. When asked about being caught, Danielle responded that she never gets caught. While the audience, mainly women in their 40’s giggled to her responses, she responded “Catch me outside, how about that?” which was a challenge for a fight. The way she said it sounded more like “Cash me ousside how bout dah”. That catchphrase was turned into a meme that went viral on the internet. On February 10, 2017, she appeared on the show again but there was no audience because of her comment the last time.
By this time, however, Danielle Bregoli was already becoming famous as the”‘Cash Me Outside’ Girl”. DJ Suede The Remix God made a single of the phrase titled How Bout Dab? which made it to charts like Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Billboard Hot 100, and Streaming Songs. Walmart also used the catchphrase on some T-shirts to the angst of the Bregolis who threatened to sue them, a threat they carried out on 3 other companies they sued for intellectual property theft for using the phrase without any express consent from them.
Since these events, the then 13/14-year-old girl with a language problem has turned into a musician in the most unconventional means. She has released singles titled These Heaux (RIAA: Gold certified), Hi Bich (RIAA: Gold, MC: Gold certified), in 2017. In 2018 she released Gucci Flip Flops featuring Lil Yachty (RIAA: Platinum, MC: Gold certified), Trust Me featuring Ty Dolla Sign, and Geek’d featuring Lil Baby. The following year, she released Bestie which featured Kodak Black and Megan Thee Stallion, Get Like Me featuring NLE Choppa, and Spaz featuring YBN Nahmir. All these have in no small way contributed to making Danielle Bregoli famous.
