A songwriter cum vocalist whose music is a heady potent fusion of rhythm & blues, soul, early rock & roll, gospel and a smattering of country, Anderson East came to the shores of fame through his hit track titled Satisfy Me which he dropped in March 2015. The track has received steady radio airplay from the moment it was released and subsequently became a hit with fans and the general public. During the summer of 2015, his debut album titled Delilah was released on Elektra Records’ division Low Country Sound.
It is particularly of interest that Anderson’s producers were from Muscle Shoals Alabama which serves as the emotional source of many singers who specialize in soul, country, rock & rhythm and blues because his music has been described as a blend of several genres. His sound is majorly a throwback to the early days of rock when there was a reflection of soul, rhythm, and blues in music. Anderson’s music can best be described as a veritable mixture of Nashville and Alabama Southern-fried country.
While many known singers have slanted their country music to appear appealing to a conventional audience, a new crop of country musicians like Anderson East are going for sounds that appear more personal and intimate, completely free of frills. Although he is still young in age, his music comes with an old soul that resounds deep in the American psyche of rock, country, and rhythm and blues.
