Russell Wilson is a popular American football quarterback who plays for the National Football League’s “Seattle Seahawks.” Though he started out playing a handful of sports including Baseball, and basketball, it was football that made him shine the most while at the University of Wisconsin. For his impressive performance and obvious talents, he was later selected as the 12th pick in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Seahawks.
Russell Carrington Wilson was born on the 29th of November, 1988 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to father, Harrison Benjamin, and mother, Tammy Wilson. As a kid, he grew up in Richmond, Virginia and it was there his passion for football started to grow. He is the second child of his parents and he has two siblings, an older brother, Harrison IV, and a younger sister, Anna Wilson.
As a young boy, he studied at Collegiate School, a preparatory school located in Richmond, Virginia. In 2005, while he was still a junior, he joined the football team where he had 40 touchdowns and threw for 3,287 yards. He had a similar performance when he was a senior as he recorded seven interceptions, 34 touchdowns and 3,009 yards. Because of his magnificent feat, he was named the “conference player of the year” as a senior quarterback.
Wilson broke records as he became the first freshman quarterback to clinch the “all-ACC first team honors” while he was at the North Carolina State University. In 2010, he was drafted by Major League Baseball’s Colorado Rockies. However, he got into a disagreement with his coach Tom O’Brien which led him to make the decision to transfer to another college for his final year, this time, he chose the University of Wisconsin. He thus completed his college football career at the Senior Bowl, on the 28th of January, 2012.

He initially had a little setback as most scouts thought his 5’11 height too small for the NFL regardless of his accomplishments in College football, however, luck smiled on him when after five other quarterbacks had already been selected, Seattle Seahawks selected him as part of their 2012 NFL draft.
While at Seahawks, he made his regular debut to a 20-16 loss to Arizona Cardinals. He also rushed for 489 yards and threw 3,118 touchdowns. In his 2013 season, he finished with a 101.2 passing rate, 26 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. By the 2014 season, the Seahawks clinched a Super Bowl berth which is their largest comeback in the history of the franchise.

In terms of achievements, Russell has a couple of well-deserved awards that speak of his contribution to his League and the NFL in general. Some of his accolades include; Steve Largent Award (2012), NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month (December 2012), NFC Offensive Player of the Week (seven times), PFWA Good Guy Award (2014). Other achievements include being ranked 17th on the NFL Top 100 players in 2016, voted as Seahawks offensive Captain for the fifth season in a row on the 5th of September 2017.

Russell Wilson first married his high school sweetheart, Ashton Meem in 2012. They both met while they were studying at the Collegiate School in Richmond. They also managed to keep a long distance relationship which eventually led to their marriage. However, they called it quits in 2014 with Russell asking for privacy as well as refusing to comment any further on the issue. They have a daughter whom they named, Sienna Princess Wilson, she was born on the 28th of April 2017. Before marrying Russell, Ciara was once married to ace rapper, Future, and they have a son, Future Zahir, together. Moreso, after the marriage, Future Jnr. has legally become Russell’s stepson.
