Biles was born on March 14, 1997, in Columbus, Ohio as Simone Arianne Biles. She spent her years of secondary education as a homeschooler and graduated in summer 2015. Early in 2018, Biles announced her enrolment into the University of the People to study business administration and serve as the institution’s brand ambassador.
Biles discovered her talent in gymnastics at a very early stage. Her first attempt was at 6 years old when they went for a day-care field trip. She was noticed by the instructors who suggested she continues with gymnastics.
Subsequently, she enrolled in an optional training program at Bannon’s Gymnastix and commenced training with coach Aimee Boorman at age 8. On July 1, 2011, Biles launched her career at the 2011 American Classic in Houston. The third of four siblings, Biles was raised by her grandparents, Ronald, a former air traffic controller and Nellie Biles, a nurse and a former co-owner of a chain of nursing homes. This was due to her birth mother, Shanon Biles’ struggle with substance abuse. Her siblings include; Ronald, Adam and Adria. Her sister Adria Biles is also a gymnast. Their birth father, Kelvin Clemons was never in the picture as he also struggled with problems of addictions and abandoned his family.
