They treated him for all manner of infections, but the ringing continued. They then decided to do further checks. Sheldon Bream was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of 24, which was devastating for him and his fiancée. He was a healthy and strong student-athlete, but he still had a terrible disease.
Sheldon later underwent a nine-hour surgery during which the doctors removed a golf ball-sized tumor from his brain. It was luckily benign, but complications from the brain surgery affected some of his facial nerves, and he suffered severe paralysis in his facial muscles.
