The 38 Years Old American Actor Was Born and Raised In New York

It has never been a secret that the American actor of half English and half Italian ancestry was born on the 23rd of March 1986. His place of birth, as you would easily find, was in New York City, New York. He was also raised in the state by his parents, Jean (Viscione) and Richard Dyer Strait. He spent most of his early life in Greenwich Village, a neighborhood you would find in New York City.

Much is yet to be unveiled about his family background but we can confirm that his maternal grandparents, Anthony D. Viscione and Jean Errichiello, were both born to Italian immigrants. His father’s side of the family is of English heritage and had been living in the United States since the 1600s. Burton Anderson Strait, Jr. and Rhoda Hills Booth are the names of his paternal grandparents.

Steven was a shy lad who had both his elementary and middle school education at Village Community School, an independent co-educational day school located in his hometown, Greenwich Village. Thereafter, he attended Xavier High School, an independent university-preparatory high school for boys located in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City.

He took performing classes at Village Community College and would later take acting classes at the Stellar Adler Studio of Acting. This was after he was introduced to acting at the age of eleven by a member of his family.

Unlike a good number of actors who knew that it was what they wanted to do for a living, Steven Strait initially had no passion for it. He only caught the acting bug after his parents enrolled him at the aforementioned studio to take acting classes.

When he started working with the studio and the Black Nexus Acting Studio also located in New York City, it dawned on him that he could become a professional actor and it became his aspiration.

At this time, he had learned how to deal with being shy and had grown comfortable in front of cameras; thanks to the fact that he started modeling and worked with prominent photographers.

Steven Strait Began His Career As a Model and Made His Professional Acting Debut In 2001

Before the American actor became known as an actor, he had already made a name for himself as a model. Strait modeled most of his teenage years, working with well-known organizations and photographers, including Bruce Weber who featured the New York native in his 2001 book titled All-American: Short Stories.

While modeling marked the beginning of his career journey in showbiz, it wasn’t his first source of livelihood. Before he got into modeling, he worked as an assistant in a neighborhood gym.

As related earlier, acting wasn’t something Steven aspired to. He only picked up interest in it after he started taking acting classes. With time, he started performing on stage and then made his screen debut in 2001 when he portrayed Teenage Bobby in the “Requiem for a Bantamweight” episode of Third Watch, the NBC crime drama television series that John Wells and Edward Allen Bernero created.

His next role which happens to be his big-screen debut came in 2005 when he played Warren Peace in the American superhero comedy film directed by Mike Mitchell, Sky High.

That same year, he portrayed Luke Falcon in Undiscovered, a drama film directed by Meiert Avis. In the years that followed, he was seen in more big-screen productions; prominent among them include The Covenant, 10,000 BC, Stop-Loss and After, a 2012 fantasy thriller film wherein he played Freddy.

As of January 2020, he has a sci-fi movie titled Five Below in the pipeline. He would be seen in the project written by Nick Brown and directed by Mike Le Han as Clarke. Strait has also enjoyed good outings as a television actor. His next television after Third Watch was Jonathan David in H.M.S.: White Coat, a 2010 television drama film written by Amy Holden Jones and directed by Mark Piznarski.

That same year, the actor was seen as Jackson Cooper in the “Crazy Love” episode of the American police procedural drama television series, Chase. It was after this that he landed his major role in Magic City: Steven played Steven “Stevie” Evans across 16 episodes of the drama series created by Mitch Glazer for the Starz network; this lasted from 2012 to 2013.

In 2014, he was seen as Brooks in the “Disgrace” and “Struggle” episodes of Revenge. The following year (2015) saw him land the role of James Holden in The Expanse. This is not only his most notable TV role but also one of the prominent works of his career thus far.

Since the American science fiction television series premiered in 2015, it has aired a total of 62 episodes as of January 2022 and Steven Strait appeared in all of them.

The Expanse Actor Is Also a Singer and Producer

Having spent over 20 years as a Hollywood actor, it is quite natural that he has spread his wings to other areas of the industry other than acting. Back in 2014, Steven Strait worked in the editorial department of the film industry as an assistant editor. This was for the “Raised Wild” episode of the reality-documentary series, Alaskan Bush People.

Roughly four years later, he debuted as a producer with the “Fight or Flight” episode of The Expanse. Thus far, he has co-executed the production of at least five episodes of the show, alongside 33 episodes that he produced. The actor has also served as a co-executive producer for five episodes of The Expanse: One Ship.

Steven is also a singer. Even though he is yet to gain mainstream acclaim from the profession, he has pulled off some significant works thereof. He was once the lead singer and lyricist of a band called The Tribe. Before the band disbanded, it was reported that they had been signed to Lakeshore Records label to work on their first album.

As a solo musical artist, Strait performed about eight soundtracks for the 2005 musical comedy romance, Undiscovered. The soundtracks are: “This Is Living”, “Boomerang”, “Smart in a Stupid Way”, “Half Lit”, “Pure Example”, “House Lights”, and “Never Said Anything”. He also performed the “One Thing Leads to Another” soundtrack on Sky High.

Several platforms have reported that he released an album titled Rise from the Ashes in 2020; this is not true. The album was released by a Canadian/Swedish trio known as Seven Strait. Given the similarities in name, it is not hard to tell where the mix-up emanated from.

If there is anything you shouldn’t be told about Steven Strait, it is the fact that he was once married to Lynn Collins. The 47 years old is an American actress from Houston, Texas and she has been active in the entertainment industry since 1999.

Collins graduated from Juilliard School, a private performing arts conservatory in New York City where she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She is mostly known for her roles in films like X-Men Origins: Wolverine and John Carter, in addition to televisions series like True Blood, Manhunt: Unabomber, and The Walking Dead.

Details of how the two met and the circumstances surrounding the beginning of their relationship are best known to them. It is only known that they dated for four years before they got married on the 23rd of December 2007. Although Lynn is over eight years older than Steven, it didn’t stop them from falling in love and getting married.

But as fate would have it, it wasn’t a union that was meant to be. After five years of marriage, the actors separated and finalized their divorce in 2013. Just as how their relationship began, what led to its demise has been quite a mystery. Nonetheless, the union didn’t produce any children.

The X-Men actress wasted no time in moving on after they parted ways. Just after their divorce, it was rumored that she was in a relationship with Matthew Boyle. If there was any doubt about that, it was cleared when the two got married in November 2014.

The following year, they had a son named Asher Hendrix Boyle. Because of how quickly the actress moved on, it was speculated in some quarters that Boyle had something to do with her divorce from Steven.

Some reports even went as far as wondering if she cheated on The Expanse actor. Collins and Boyle parted ways in 2016; so, she has been married and divorced since she parted ways with Steven, can the same be said about the actor?

For many years after his separation from Lynn Collins, Steven Strait was believed to be single as he was not romantically linked to anyone. This remained so until 2019 when it emerged that he was in a relationship with Daria Zhemkova.

From what we gathered, the 33 years old born on the 17th of November 1990 is a Russian model. How they met is best known to them but they have been together since at least 2016. To the best of our knowledge, that was the year they made their first public appearance: they attended an exhibition together in Los Angeles, California.

Their relationship has grown so serious to the point that it is believed that they are married. If this report is true, it means that the two have been married since 2019. But then, credible platforms are yet to acknowledge this to be true. In fact, since the two were seen together in November 2016, they are yet to be seen in public again.

If they are truly married, then they have relentlessly strived to keep it private. Time has always been faithful when it comes to exposing the truth about such matters. So in the fullness of time, we will surely get to learn if the two are married as claimed.

Neither Lynn Collins nor Daria Zhemkova is the first love of Steven Strait. Before them, he dated Gretchen Tune: the relationship reportedly lasted for a year, from 2002 to 2003.
