Playing the position of a shooting guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the National Basketball Association (NBA) is one of America’s finest basketball players – Jimmy Butler. His pro career began in the year 2011 with the Chicago Bulls prior to his next move to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Thus far, he has risen to be a very significant part of the sport with various achievements to show for his skills and hard work.

Jimmy Butler’s Biography and Age

The NBA star was born Jimmy Butler III on September 14, 1989, in Houston, Texas. Growing up, Butler had the world against him with a father who abandoned the family when he was only an infant. His mother brought him for some time only for her to later kick him out when he was thirteen simply because she did not like his looks.

With neither any money nor family, he kept staying with various friends as he got by each day. In trying to keep things afloat, Jimmy Butler got a challenge from Jordan Leslie to a 3-point-shooting contest, this led to a friendship and although Jordan’s family was large with many kids, there was still space for Jimmy and that was how he got a new family. For Leslie’s mother, Michelle Lambert, all she wanted from him was to stay out of trouble because her kids looked up to him.

Besides that, his newly adopted mother also had a curfew for him and he had to attend classes and have good grades. Jimmy attended Tomball High School from where he moved to Tyler Junior College and then he was given an athletic scholarship to Marquette University.

It is for basketball that he would become popular, but his first love was actually football and the second baseball. It was, however, the third, basketball that he got married to. He started playing the sports since he was a child. By his senior high school days after he had settled in his new family, he flourished more in the sport and it became clear he had a future there.

With a great high school career, Jimmy Butler transitioned to have an even better college career that attracted the eyes of the Bull when he decided to enter the 2011 NBA Draft. He was selected with the 30th overall pick, starting a career that would see him play with the team until 2017. While with the team, he was named the NBA Most Improved Player of 2015, and he made the NBA All-Star from 2015 to 2018.

In 2017, Butler was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves with who he still plays. He has made two All-NBA Third Teams in 2017 and 2018, and 4 NBA All-Stars from 2015 to 2018.

In 2016, he represented the United States in Men’s Basketball at the Olympic Games at Rio de Janeiro. The American team won the Gold medal at the tournament.

While there are conspiracy theories on social media on how Michael Jordan may actually be the father of Jimmy Butler, the fact is that there is no fact to support that. What is known is that his dad abandoned him when he was just an infant and his mother is Londa Butler.

That stated the first person that comes to mind for him as a mom is Michelle Lambert who is also Leslie Jordan’s mother as she took him in. Still, he held no grudges against his biological mother or even father whom he says he still loves.

Butler does not have a wife, neither has he ever been married. But he had dated some women in the past. Back in 2016, he was linked to actress Shay Mitchell with whom he was seen together with on numerous occasions. Their relationship did not last a long time before it came to an end though. Before Shay, he had a relationship with Charmaine Piula in 2015.

At the moment, it is not known who he is dating as he prefers to keep that part of his life away from the public.

Net Worth

When he left home at the age of 13, Butler had neither a place to sleep nor any money. Years down the line, he has not only become very successful as an NBA player, but he also has a net worth that has been estimated at $34 million. Well, guess his “unappealing looks (to his mother)” never stood in the way of his NBA success.

Height and Weight

Just as you will definitely find with most stars in the NBA, Jimmy Butler is a man with a good height and is well built. He stands at a massive height of ‎6 feet 8 inches (203 cm) while his body weight is 222 lbs (101 kg).
