How Jeremy Sisto Began His Acting Career and What We Know About His Family

Jeremy Sisto is an American actor who is widely recognized for his portrayal of Billy Chenowith in the HBO hit drama series, Six Feet Under. The highly successful series which ran from 2001 to 2005 gained him nominations for SAG Awards’ Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series all through its 5 seasons; he won the award in 2002 and 2003.

Sisto is also known for his role as Detective Cyrus Lupo on NBC’s crime drama series, Law and Order. He joined the main cast of the series in its 18th season and was part of the show until the 20th and final season. He also starred in 3 seasons of the ABC sitcom, Suburgatory, which ran from 2011 to 2014. Beyond acting, Sisto has written and produced a good number of movies.

While in high school, Jeremy Sisto worked at a few theatres in town. He first showcased his acting skill in the Twisted Sister’s music video, ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’. Then, when he was 17 years old, he landed his first movie role in the drama film, Grand Canyon. Upon graduation from high school, Jeremy Sisto proceeded to The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and his acting career took off fulltime after he graduated from college.

Following his motion picture debut in 1991, the skilled actor had another role in a TV film titled Desperate Choices: To Save My Child. He then went ahead to star in the 1995 cult classic, Clueless. However, his first lead role in a big movie came in 1999 when he played a titular role in the biblical historical film, Jesus. He equally portrayed another titular role in the 2003 miniseries, Julius Caesar.

2001 to 2005 marked a high point in Jeremy Sisto’s career as he featured in the highly successful series, Six Feet Under. Following his performance on Take Me Out in 2002, the sensational actor was nominated for the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award. He then made a comeback to the stage in 2006 when he was featured in the Broadway adaptation of Festen at the Music Box Theatre. That same year, he had a role in the drama series, Kidnapped.

In 2007, Jeremy Sisto featured on the comedy-drama film, Waitress, and was further ushered into another high point in his career as he joined the cast of Law and Order in 2008 and stayed on till its season finale in 2010. The talented actor moved on to star in Suburgatory for three years and was highly lauded for his excellent depictions in the series. His performance earned him a nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy Series during the 2013 Critics’ Choice Television Award.

2015 was a pretty busy year for Jeremy Sisto as he featured in quite a number of productions. The actor featured in A&E’s drama series, The Returned, which premiered in March 2015 but got canceled just after one season. He also lent his voice to Talon in the animated film Batman v/s Robin and featured in the horror-thriller, Hangman (2015). Sisto is currently starring in a lead role as Jubal Valentine on the crime drama TV series, FBI.

Other movies and series he has starred in include This Space Between Us, Love Is All You Need?, The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things, Wicked City, A Lot Like Love, Now You Know, and many others. Additionally, the actor has lent his voice to characters in Justice League: The New Frontier, The Wild Thornberrys, Rugrats, Frozen 2, Duckman, and others.

Jeremy Sisto co-produced the 2014 Indie comedy, Break Point, in which he played a lead role. Having launched his own production company called Dima Entertainment in April 2003, he has served as the producer of movies like Hangman and Paranoia 1.0. Sisto has been active in the industry for more than two decades and his efforts have been rewarded with some awards. They include the Cinequest Film Festival Awards, Newport Beach Film Festival Awards, and the Dahlonega International Film Festival Awards, to mention a few.

The actor who was named Jeremy Merton Sisto after the late Trappist monk, Thomas Merton, was born on October 6, 1974, in Northern California. He is the son of Reedy Gibbs who was an actress while his father Richard Sisto was a teacher and also a musician.

Sisto’s parents got divorced when he was a lad. His father remarried while his mother raised him and his sister, Meadow Sisto. Meadow is also building a career in the entertainment industry, she’s an actress admired for portraying Caroline in the comedy film, Captain Ron. Apart from that, she has starred in movies and series like The Last Time I Committed Suicide, Can’t Hardly Wait, In Memory of My Father, NYPD Blue, Nash Bridges, The Tick, among many others.

Jeremy Sisto is married to a former model named Addie Lane. The couple dated for two years before they got married on October 13, 2009. It was a low-key ceremony that took place at the New York City Hall. Sisto and his beautiful wife have 2 children together, a son and a daughter.

Prior to their wedding, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Charlie-Ballerina Sisto on June 23, 2009. They also welcomed their second child, a son named Bastian Kick Sisto on March 9, 2012, in Los Angeles.

Jeremy Sisto’s marriage to Addie Lane happens to be his second; the actor was previously married to actress Marisa Ryan. On the 30th of August 1993, Sisto who was 18 contracted a marriage with Marisa who was also 18 at that time. However, the marriage didn’t last as they separated just after two days. The union was legally annulled on June 20, 2002.
