Te’a Cooper Was Born in Newark

Alvin Kamara’s girlfriend, Te’a Cooper, is currently 27 years old. She was born on April 16, 1997, in Newark, New Jersey, United States. Her birth sign is Aries and she belongs to the African American ethnic group. Coupled with the fact that both her African American parents, Omar and Kindall Cooper, are American citizens, Te’a’s national identity is further reinforced by the fact that she was born in the US.

Te’a is the first of four children born into what is essentially a family of athletes. Her father, Omar Cooper, is a well-respected basketball coach whose CV includes the time he spent coaching the Athletes of Tomorrow AAU basketball team in Powder Springs, Georgia. Te’a’s brother, Shariffe, currently plays for the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA following his draft in the 2021 NBA draft while her other siblings, Omar Jr. and Mia are all actively involved in the sports in one way or another.

Te’a had a relatively interesting childhood that involved spending the majority of her formative years in Powder Springs, Georgia, after her father’s coaching career forced them to move from her birthplace of Newark, New Jersey. That notwithstanding, she has only fond memories of the time she spent in Powder Springs.

When it was time to continue her education at the high school level, Te’a enrolled at McEachern High School, located in Powder Springs. She spent a significant part of her time at the high school honing her basketball skills. As a member of the school’s female basketball team, she won three State titles, first in 2012 before back-to-back victories in 2014 and 2015.

Personal awards during that time include a co-MVP award during the 2015 McDonald’s All-American game. On the wings of an impressive high school experience, Te’a was offered a full ride to further her studies at the University of Tennessee. Her stay at the University began a run of 3 universities in 5 years for the then-highly rated basketball prodigy.

The run ended with her final year at Baylor University. In between, she had also spent two years at the University of South Carolina. In all, she spent about 2 years in Tennessee, another couple of years in South Carolina, and her final year at Baylor. In an interview a few years later, the athelete revealed that the difference in playing style was the motivating factor in her decision to switch schools every couple of years during her time in college.

Te’a Cooper Has Been Alvin Kamara’s Girlfriend For Over a Year

When Te’a and Alvin decided to officially acknowledge the fact that they were together in September 2021, there had already been numerous rumors and speculations linking them together as a couple even though it appeared they were with other people at the time these rumors started circulating.

Even with the timeline of September 2021, Te’a and Alvin’s relationship has lasted for more than one year but the rumors of them being together started making the rounds in July 2021 after Alvin posted a picture of him and a female companion. The picture that featured nothing but the lady’s fingernails didn’t leave enough evidence but that was more than enough to start a rumor given the fact that Alvin had just ended his relationship with Just Ace.

To strengthen the thread of the rumors and speculations, netizens dug into Te’a’s Instagram and found a picture she had posted around the same time as the one on Kamara’s wall. The similarities between the pictures she posted and the fingers on Alvin’s story convinced many that Te’a was the mystery woman and despite the couple’s silence, they would not be swayed.

In early September, Kamara’s post about cheering his girlfriend on at a Los Angeles Sparks game removed all doubt because Te’a played for the aforementioned team at the time. They eventually put everyone out of the misery of mystery-enveloping their relationship when they took to Instagram in late September to acknowledge the fact that they were officially a couple.

In the over one year since they began dating, Te’a and Alvin have been quite supportive and loving of each other and they have focused on showing the world more highs than lows of their time together as a committed couple.

Before she became involved with Alvin Kamara, Cooper’s other known relationship was the brief period she spent married to NBA star and Los Angeles Lakers Center, Dwight David Howard. They reportedly became engaged in 2019 before tying the mythical knot at a secret ceremony in 2020. They eventually went their separate ways after finalizing their divorce in April 2021. Te’a had no children with Dwight Howard.

Te’a Cooper Is a Professional Basketball Player

Te’a Cooper rode the highs of her time in high school and college to the very steps of the WNBA. After her time at Baylor, she entered the 2020 WNBA draft and was the 18th pick for the Phoenix Mercury. Her journey was stalled by the COVID-19 pandemic and she ended up not playing a single game for the Mercury.

Her impressive college numbers convinced the management at the Los Angeles Sparks to bring her on board. In her 2 years with the Sparks, Te’a made 48 appearances averaging 19.4 minutes in the 48 games she played. She also scored 7 points per game from her shooting guard position while making 1.7 assists per game.

At the time of writing, Te’a was a WNBA free agent.
