Yang Mi is a Chinese actress who was born in the Xuanwu district of Beijing on the 12th of September 1986 to middle-class parents that consist of a father who was a police officer and a housewife as a mother. Though she started her career very early at the age of four, Yang Mi managed to incorporate her life as an actress with formal education at the Beijing Xuanwu Experimental Primary School and the Beijing Film Academy.

Since she made her debut at the age of four in the television series, a historical drama named Tang Ming Huang where she played Princess Xianning, she has starred in films like King of Beggars, Hou Wa. The two actors started dating in 2012 and got married two years after in Bali, Indonesia. She gave birth to their first child six months after their marriage on the 1st of June 2014; a daughter they named Noemie Lau
Although there have been rumors of a divorce between her and Hawick Lau, it has been denied by both parties and they are both scheduled to release a film together in 2019.
