Levy was born William Levy Gutiérrez on August 29, 1980, in Cojimar, Havana, Cuba. His middle name Levy is his maternal grandfather’s who was Jewish. Levy’s mother Barbara raised him as a single mother. Seeking greener pastures, Levy immigrated to the United States at the age of 14. He attended Barbara Goleman Senior high school where he excelled in baseball earning a baseball scholarship to attend St. Thomas University.
