Will There Be Season 4 of GLOW Or Will It Be Cancelled After The 3rd Season?

David McLane founded The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW) as a women’s professional wrestling promotion outfit in 1986 and more than three decades later, the show has evolved in many forms. The American comedy web television series simply dubbed GLOW is one of the different versions that have come out of the ’80s classic. GLOW, the brainchild of Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, has entertained audiences since 2017 with a perfect fictionalization of the exploits in the 1980s syndicated women’s professional wrestling circuit of the same name. Three seasons later, fans are eager to know if there will be a season 4 of Glow. We have all the deets to keep you abreast with the way forward on the show.

The Premise of GLOW

Ironically, before Flahive and Mensch conceived the idea for GLOW TV series, they never knew about the GLOW wrestling promotion. However, when they happened upon the 2012 documentary GLOW: The Story of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, coupled with their quest to create a new female-centric show, they were hooked on the idea of producing a fictionalized version of it.

They described the storyline as intriguing and saw in it, an opportunity to explore what really transpired in the 1970s Woman’s Liberation Movement. This is why the TV series has thrown more light on whether the league was exploiting or empowering women.

Ursula Hayden who currently owns the GLOW company helped in her capacity as a consultant, assisting Flahive and Mensch with the creation of the show. An American professional wrestler, Hayden played the role of Babe, the Farmer’s Daughter on the original 1980s promotion.

Other contributors to the success of the show include Chavo Guerrero Jr. who also served as a consultant, as well as trained the actresses for their tasks. As his name suggests, Chavo is a member of the famed Guerrero wrestling family and his uncle Mando Guerrero played the same part in the original series.

The show is set around 1985 in Los Angeles where Ruth Wilder, a struggling actress, decides to try her luck in a budding professional wrestling promotion known as the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW). Though she auditions alongside other women, Ruth and GLOW’s director Sam Sylvia are constantly at loggerheads, no thanks to her tendency to overact. Generally, GLOW follows the fictional show’s cast and crew, dissecting their private and professional lives.

Will There Be Season 4 of GLOW?

The first season of GLOW was released on Netflix on June 23, 2017, and due to its success, another installment was confirmed by Netflix on August 10, 2017. The second season premiered on June 29, 2018, and following the waves it made, the network renewed it for a third season on August 20, 2018. While the third season premiered on August 9, 2019, fans have been asking questions about season 4 of GLOW, wondering if the third season will wrap things up. So far, thirty episodes have been aired in the series – ten for each season.

As we have validated, on September 20, 2019, the American comedy series was renewed for a fourth season. While there is no confirmation on when it will premiere, Glow season 4 has been confirmed to be the season that will draw the curtain on the show.
