Terrence Howard was born to Anita Jeanine Williams (née Hawkins) and Tyrone Howard. The Hollywood star had a troubled childhood as he was frequently physically abused by his father. As a toddler, Terrence Howard witnessed his father stab another man in self-defense in an incident that has since been tagged ‘The Santa Line Slaying’.

For the offense, Howard’s father did 11 months of jail time for manslaughter. His parents’ marriage eventually fell apart shortly after his father regained his freedom.
