When she was only six years old, her father was murdered outside their Atlanta home. As a teenager, Charity became involved in drugs like heroin, and this led her mother to kick her out. She became clean, and after she had Paris, she moved in with a man named Jonathan and had a daughter named Ella Bennet with him.

Paris Bennett had a Rough Childhood

After her relationship with Jonathan failed, Charity and her two kids moved back in with her mother, with whom she still had a toxic relationship. Thus, Paris spent his days listening to his mother and grandmother fighting. When Paris was about 11 years old, his mother relapsed on cocaine and could not effectively care for her children. These events negatively affected him, and he soon began to display violent behaviors.

As an 11-year-old boy, Paris once threatened his family with a kitchen knife. Out of worry for his mental well-being, his mother, Charity, sent him to Red River Hospital, a psychiatric facility. To get a fresh start, Charity moved west to Abilene with her kids.

What Happened to Paris Lee Bennett?

Paris Lee Bennett murdered his 4-year-old younger sister Ella Bennett on February 4, 2007. On the day of the sad event, Paris’ mother, Charity, hired a babysitter for the children as she was working a shift at a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant near Abilene.

The Babysitter’s Account

Speaking on the incident, the babysitter, who was a Hardin Simmons University student, revealed that she had taken the 2 kids out for Chinese food, and upon their return, Paris went to his room to finish his homework while his sister Ella went to sleep. Around 10 p.m., Paris convinced the babysitter to go home, claiming that he was old enough to take care of himself and his sisters.

Paris Stabbed His Sister 17 Times

After the babysitter had left, Paris went into his sister’s room with a kitchen knife. He sexually assaulted her and proceeded to beat and choke her. An autopsy report revealed that Paris stabbed Ella 17 times, and the numerous cuts on her body indicated that the little girl tried to fight back.

After committing the crime, Paris called a friend to confess that he had hurt his sister. Two minutes after the call with his friend, he dialed 911 and reported the crime. The dispatcher guided Paris as he performed CPR on Ella in a futile attempt to revive her. When detectives arrived at the crime scene, Paris was arrested, and Ell’s body was taken away.

Because he was only 13 years old at the time, Paris was convicted of the crime and sentenced to 40 years in prison. This was the highest sentence a minor in Texas could receive at the time the crime happened.

He wanted her to lose her two children as he was certain he would be going to jail for the murder.

After admitting that he had killed his sister to punish their mother, Paris later stated that he committed the crime only because he was bored and wanted to experience how it felt to kill a person. Investigations revealed that he had carefully planned the crime long before he eventually carried it out.
