Lisa Holewyne is Christy Martin’s wife. She is a former American professional boxer who is famous for winning many regional golden laurels even before her professional career began. She was born on March 10, 1966, and owes part of her fame to her marriage with Christy Martin.

Her wife, Christy Martin, is also a former professional fighter who is respected for legitimizing female boxing in modern times. Currently, Lisa Holewyne is 58 years old.

Lisa Holewyne’s birth took place on March 10, 1966, which makes her 58 years old. She was born in Hawaii in the United States of America and her birth name is Lisa Ann Holewyne. Every year, Lisa celebrates her birth anniversary on the 10th of March and according to her birthdate, she belongs to the Aquarian zodiac identity.

Although Holewyne’s ethnic group is not public knowledge, we can readily assume she belongs to the white ethnicity, judging by her skin color. While that is based on assumption, we know she holds American nationality. On another note, Lisa has not disclosed anything about her parents or any member of her family.

Lisa Holewyne and Christy Martin first met in a boxing ring on November 17, 2001, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Theirs is an example of finding love in strange places and their encounter was a typical kick in the head. While the fight ended in Christy’s favor, none of them imagined that they’d end up as friends.

Subsequently, they had other uneventful meetings as fighters in the same boxing circuit. However, these fights brought them together, and soon, they developed an inseparable bond. Unfortunately, Lisa retired from boxing in 2005 and they also lost connection with time.

However, after Christy Martin’s near-death experience, Lisa Holewyne reconnected with her old boxing friend and colleague. Christy Martin explained that Lisa was always calling and checking up on her. Soon, their fondness matured into love and intimacy as they discovered they share the same sexual orientation.

Christy Martin Became Lisa Holewyne’s Spouse in 2017

This boxing phenomenon later got the ‘happily ever after’ she loved and deserved. Lisa Holewyne’s relationship with her boxing rival, Christy Martin flourished even more. The duo was wedded on November 25, 2017, and what is even more inspiring is the fact that their wedding ceremony reportedly came after they had dated for only four months.

According to reports, their engagement was not like the regular proposals. The lovebirds did not employ any of the popular engagement lines and cliches as Lisa and Christy’s engagement took place at a hotel’s parking lot. The event was seemingly unusual because they both knew that committing to each other for the rest of their lives was the best decision ever.

Being married to Christy is Lisa’s first marriage experience. There’s no record of any previous relationships as far as she is concerned on the internet but her wife, Christy has been married before. According to Cristy, she was trapped in a heterosexual union for about two decades.

Christy Martin was married to her manager, Jim Martin. Despite being a world champion, Christy was a closeted gay woman who was living in an abusive marital union. Thankfully,  the relationship ended after Jim Martin almost killed her in November 2010. Christy Martin was stabbed by her ex-partner thrice and shot in her chest. Fortunately, she survived the near-death encounter.

Lisa Holewyne Used To Be A Professional Boxer

After learning the art of fighting, Lisa started competing in regional fights and she won several Golden Glove titles. When Lisa turned 32 in 1998, she decided to become a registered professional boxer. Her target was to be the best and resurrect female boxing.

On June 19, 1998, she got her first win as a professional boxer in Orleans, Las Vegas. Lisa fought and defeated the warhorse and Hollywood champion, Robyn Covino. The competition ended with a majority decision (40-36, 40-36, 40-36) over four rounds.

Similarly, she competed with Tina Bryan and she won with a unanimous vote for her. A month later, Holewyne lost to Vicki Woods in a four-round battle. Vicki finished with a 5-3-1. Still undeterred, Lisa competed at the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Bingo and Casino in Worley. There, she lost to Sarah Schmedding with a six-round unanimous decision.

In October 1998, Holewyne had another fight with Vicki Woods in the Umpqua Grand Ballroom. Once again, Vicki defeated her with a six-round split (59-55, 59-55, 57-57) majority decision. Fortunately, the year ended on a good note as on December 17, 1998, Lisa had a rematch with Robyn Covino which she won via TKO.

Her Career Lasted Almost Eight Years

As stated earlier, Lisa Holewyne began her professional career in 1998 but it properly kicked off in and took a turn for the better in 1999. She got better at her game and won more matches.

First, she fought for the WIBF stray-weight title against Francesca Lupo and Anissa Zamarron. Again, Holewyne fought Julie Birdshell on March 20, 1999, at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California. The match finished with a 40-36 majority decision win against Julie.

One of her major wins was on May 7, 1999, by TKO in a fight against Randi Seanz. Subsequently, Lisa made a series of big wins throughout her eight years career. Some of her victories were over Branda Drexel and Jennifer McCartney. She recorded some losses too including one to  Christy Martin in 2001.
