When she was just 10 years old, Madelyn started going to New York for commercial print work and soon fell in love with the city, design, sets, and other creatives.
As she was pursuing her studies, Madelyn did part-time work on TV commercials and print ads for brands like Next, T-mobile, and Sunny D, where she was exposed to the entertainment industry. Soon, she realized that she didn’t want to continue splitting her time between work and studies. So, she decided to relocate to Los Angeles to focus on her acting when she was only 19 years old.

Madelyn expected Los Angeles to be tough, but she never expect it to be as difficult as it was for her to get acting roles. She hung around aspiring actors and had to watch them get roles while she barely got past auditions. Madelyn’s inability to hire an agent also contributed to her struggles.
To make matters even worse, she didn’t have enough money to return to South Carolina, and she consequently, had to live in her car for several weeks. Her parents didn’t support her decision to try out acting, but without knowing it, they helped her navigate through the tough times.
During her childhood, Madelyn’s parents loved saying the phrase, ‘If you ain’t wrecking, you ain’t racing.’ Each time she remembers the phrase in her difficult moment, it spurred her to keep moving and try. Eventually, Madelyn became a successful actress, making her debut in 2009 in a short film titled Milites Christi.
