Was Bob Saget Gay? What Were His Accusations and Conspiracies?

Bob Saget was not gay but was as straight as you can think of. However, the late comedian’s life was dogged by controversy, accusations, and conspiracies of sexual and health-related kinds.

He was accused of rape and the conspiracies surrounding his death were COVID-19 related. This article attempts to answer the question of whether Bob Saget was gay as well as take an incisive look at all the accusations and controversies that trailed him during his lifetime.

Was Bob Saget Gay?

The answer to that question is, and always will be an unequivocal no. Bob Saget became a household name after he burst onto the scene as Danny Tanner in the 1980s sitcom titled Full House. The comedian, from that point onwards, held his audience captive with his humor-filled content.

Several years before he died, Bob spoke about wanting to become a doctor. He also spoke of how he discarded that dream to follow the advice of his English teacher, Miss Zimmerman, who believed that Bob’s talent would be best served in the entertainment industry. Bob and the world were glad he took that advice because his joke-filled content has helped a lot of people.

However, on occasion, Bob tended to be filthy with his jokes, some of which included a piece about his mother not letting him go camping as a young boy because she was worried that he would be embarrassed to undress in front of other young boys. The comedian though joked that he was much more comfortable about that now before backtracking that he was no senator.

Saget’s style of joke telling was certainly filthy but only the members of the comedic community saw the comedian for what he truly was. Some of his jokes made him seem like he was gay and that had tongues speculating in that direction.

That aspect of the comedian was eventually unveiled during Dave Chappelle’s stoner comedy Half Baked in 1998, in which Bob played a recovering addict who got up midway through the show to declare that Marijuana was not a drug and that he used to suck dick for cocaine.

Bob Saget Accusations

Being gay was the least of Bob Saget’s problems while the comedian was alive. One of the biggest issues he had to deal with was centered around his relationship with the Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Bob was such a jolly-good fellow that one would find it hard to believe that he ever found himself in compromising situations because come to think of it, he was always such an amazing father figure.

What most people fail to realize though was that Bob Saget’s behavior changed after his stint on Full House. That was when his jokes became cruder and more vulgar and tended to reveal his obscene side. Those facts notwithstanding, the late actor and comedian never did anything that could even be construed as sexual assault on the Olsen twins.

The accusations about Bob Saget sexually assaulting the Olsen twins began during the 2008 Comedy Roast of Bob Saget when several comedians such as John Stamos, Brian Posehn, and Jeff Ross came up on stage to make snide comments about the possibility that Saget had behaved inappropriately towards the Olsen twins.

To give a clearer view of the situation, the popularly known Olsen twins are twin sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley Fuller Olsen. The Olsen twins are fashion designers and former actors, who despite having been in a good number of movies and TV series, are best known for their role as Michelle Tanner, the daughter of Bob Saget’s Full House character Danny Tanner.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Fuller Olsen, born June 13, 1986, in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, California, are the older sisters of popular Marvel actress, Elizabeth Olsen. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were born to David and Jarnette Olsen in 1986 before they landed the role in 1987 when they were just 9 months old. The twins took turns playing the role to adhere to the child labor laws prevalent at the time.

Was Bob Saget Charged?

Bob Saget was never charged for the controversies or accusations that painted him as a sexual pervert because nothing was ever proven against him. The late comedian admitted to making inappropriate gestures on the Full House set in his 2014 memoir titled Dirty Daddy. He was, however, precise in stating that those behaviors which included fondling the life-sized dolls that were used whenever the twins were unavailable, all tapped into his funny comedian personality and were all meant to be funny.

It must be noted that the Olsen twins’ decision to quit acting at the age of 18 and their refusal to return to set when the series was rebooted as Fuller House in 2016 fueled the rumors that Bob Saget had sexually assaulted them on set. Those rumors, however, couldn’t be further from the truth if they tried.

Despite all the talk of bad blood between the Olsen twins and the cast of Full House, the more realistic reason lay in the fact that the twins who had quit acting for a long time were particularly focused on making the most of their careers as fashion designers.

Ashley Olsen was particularly vocal in her refusal to return to the set by saying that she hadn’t been in front of a camera since she was 17 years old. She also made it clear that acting was an uncomfortable prospect for her to even think about, let alone embark on. Mary-Kate, however, was more open to the idea of being on set again but admitted that the timing of the project was not right for her.

In reality, Bob Saget, before his death, had a beautiful relationship with all his on-set children, including the Olsen twins. Their relationship has always been one similar to that of a father and his daughters, much like the one the kind late comedian had with his real-life daughters. They were supportive of each other’s endeavors, with Bob Saget making cameo appearances in some of the twins’ movie projects, To Grandmother’s House, We Go (1992) and New York Minute (2004).

Ashley and Mary-Kate were not to be outdone by Bob and regularly turned up for his annual Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine fundraiser dedicated to Scleroderma Research, the cause being one that Bob esteemed highly due to the fact that the autoimmune disease was the cause of his sister, Gay Saget’s death.

A statement of fact that completely dispels the rumors of any bad blood between the Olsen twins and the late Bob Saget can be found in the condolence message they sent to the late comedian’s family after his death. The condolence message essentially conveyed how devastated they were about his death while also letting the world know what a compassionate, kind, loving, and generous man Bob was.

Bob Saget was Married Twice in His Lifetime

Late Bob Saget and his wife, Kelly Rizzo

Bob Saget is survived by his wife, Kelly Rizzo, and three daughters from his first marriage to his high school sweetheart, Shelly Kramer. Bob met Rizzo, host of Eat Travel Rock TV, in 2015 through a mutual friend, and despite the 23-year age difference between them, the couple announced their engagement via Instagram in November 2017 before tying the knot in 2018.

Bob and Kelly did not have any children together, but Kelly was the stepmother to his three daughters with Shelly Kramer, a California-based lawyer he met when he was 17 years old and in high school. They got married in 1982 before ending their marriage in 1997, 15 years after it began. There have been several speculations about the reason for why the marriage ended, including the fact that Bob had cheated on Shelly with women who were several years younger than he was.

The fact that Bob Saget was married twice in his lifetime, while not always applicable, should be sufficient evidence to prove that the late comedian was not gay.
