CBS political drama Madam Secretary which premiered on September 21, 2014, introduced a couple of new faces and among them was Wallis Currie-Wood who plays Stephanie “Stevie” McCord, the rebellious teenage daughter of the titular character Elizabeth McCord which is portrayed by Téa Leoni. Wallis Currie-Wood’s Bio
Wallis Currie-Wood was born on the 12th of December, 1991 in Austin, Texas. Currie-Wood’s artistic side became evident from a very early age especially when she began playing the violin from the age of 5. She would come to play with the Starlight Symphony Orchestra for a number of years. While growing up in Austin, Wallis began acting locally and would later attend the performing arts conservatory, Juilliard School in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City.
While at Juilliard, Wallis Currie-Wood began acting on stage. She appeared in the stage productions of Twelfth Night, Buried Child and The Cherry Orchard. In addition to acting, Currie-Wood also continued to play the violin and improved her knowledge by studying the musical instrument at the University of Texas String project, and Austin Chamber Music Academy.
She began her acting career professionally in 2014. Her first ever acting gig was as Stephanie “Stevie” McCord in Madam Secretary. A year into filming the show, Wallie got her first feature film debut role as in the Nancy Meyers’ film The Intern. The film which was released in the fall of 2015 also stars Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway.
When Wallie isn’t working, she lends her time to philanthropic causes. She volunteers for Books for Belize, an organization that aims at supporting higher education in the Central American country, especially in small villages.
Wallis Currie-Wood’s only parent known to the media is her mother, Margie Currie-Wood. Margie operates an active Instagram and Facebook account where she has posted photos of herself as well as Wallis’ dad whose name remains unknown to the general public.
A trip to Wallis’ mom’s social media page reveals her love for flowers. She is also an animal lover and owns a dog. Wallis occasionally posts about her parents on her Instagram account. On father’s day of 2016, she went on a fishing trip with her father and shared a moment with fans on the photo-sharing platform.
Wallis Currie-Wood has since 2014 been in a relationship with English actor Alex Sharp. The two met in Juilliard where they were classmates. They try to keep their relationship as low key as possible. They were featured in an August 2015 issue of American Vogue magazine.
Alex Sharp like Wallis began his acting career professionally in 2014. While Wallis went on to announce herself via the small screen, Sharp awed on stage with his performance as the autistic teenager Christopher Boone in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, a Broadway production. The role won him a handful of awards including a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play, making him the youngest actor in history to win the award. Born on the 2nd of February 1989, Sharp was 26 years old when he won the award in 2015.
The stage role opened up his career as Alex Sharp soon scored more acting gigs. He made his screen debut in the 2017 drama film, To the Bone also starring Keanu Reeves and Lily Collins. His other films include; How to Talk to Girls at Parties, Better Start Running, UFO, and The Hustle.
Though born in Westminster, London, Wallis’ partner Alex was raised by his parents in Devon, England. His father was a real estate agent who retired when he was 35 years old while his mom is a teacher. Alex’s love for acting began to manifest from early childhood.
At 4 years old, he scored his first paid acting job which was in the TV series A Touch of Frost. The role earned him 10 pounds. During his early years, Sharp and his family traveled often and as a result, he was homeschooled by his mom. He performed in many school plays and would come to study performance arts at Yeovil College.
Wallis Currie-Wood’s partner learned a thing or two about real estate from his father. During the subprime mortgage crisis, he relocated to the States and leveraged the housing market for quick profits. It was while working in real estate in America that he made up his mind to pursue a career as a professional actor which led him to attend Juilliard.
