Trey Wingo, as he is widely known is a screen name as he was born Hal Chapman Wingo III. It is not known if he had any siblings but he attended the same high school as the popular American footballer, Steve Young, in Greenwich, Connecticut. After high school, the TV host proceeded to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Baylor University where he was a member of a popular fraternity known as Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He graduated in 1985.

He began his career New York City – at NBC News at Sunrise – where he specifically served as a reporter. He would later move around several stations such as WMGC-TV, WFMZ-TV, WICZ-TV, and KSDK-TV before finally settling at ESPN. At ESPN, he became very popular for his show with fellow presenter, Mike Golic titled Golic and Wingo and also for his appearances on NFL Live. He has covered the NFL Draft for all seven rounds since 2017 and was also a co-host of NFL 2Night. The list of his accomplishments with ESPN are numerous and for this, he has received the Emmy Awards 6 times.
