Taking after his father’s footsteps have proved worthwhile for the MLB player, Travis Shaw who currently plays for the Milwaukee Brewers. Shaw is said to have entered the MLB when he was picked by the Boston Red in the 9th round of the 2011 MLB draft.  After that, he had been playing professional baseball making progress from the minor league to the major league. Travis Shaw’s Age and Early Life

The American professional baseball player was born with the full name Travis Richard Shaw in 1990 on the 16th day of April to Julie Shaw and Jeff Shaw, in Washington Court House, Ohio, United States of America. His father Jeff Shaw played in the MLB and landed the title of  All-Star Pitcher twice during his baseball career days.

Travis Shaw had his high school education at the Washington High School which is also the same school his father attended. He proceeded to the State University of Kent and joined the school’s baseball team, ending his college career with a batting average of  .307 in 63 games played for his college team, Golden Flashes.

His MLB Career

In 2011, Travis Shaw made it to the MLB when picked in the 9th round of the MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox. He played his first game against the  Lowell Spinners during which he had the highest RBI, recorded 14 doubles, 8 home runs, and 34 runs scored. In that same year, he made the highest bases in one match including recording 2 walks and 3 doubles, setting a new team record. He completed that year in a Low Class A Greenville Drive as he made a batting record of .333 in two games played but was subsequently promoted to High Class A, the Salem Red Sox the following year where he played excellently as he recorded .305 hits, .411 base percent, and had the highest scores of home runs, RBI’s, and runs on the team which attracted another promotion for him in August to the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs.

Travis was also named among the top Red Sox minor league players during the 2011/2012 season and his playing progressed as he eventually ranked first on the Red Sox Minor League in 2014. That same year, he was rated number 19 on the MLB.com Top 20 Boston Red Sox Prospects list and in November, he was included to be among the 40-man roster.

On the 8th day of May 2015, Travis Shaw was transferred to the Major League still playing for the Boston Red Sox and he made his debut that same day against the Toronto Blue Jays. In his career for the Boston Red Sox, Shaw has played in 210 overall games and recording bating of .251 with 29 home runs alongside 107 RBIs.

In the following year on December 6th, he was on an exchange deal alongside Mauricio Dubón, and Josh Pennington to a new club, the Milwaukee Brewers for Tyler Thornburg. He made his debut match for the team in the first day of the season against the Colorado Rockies. Travis Shaw has an excellent season for the Brewers where he has recorded .273 batting alongside 31 home runs, 101 RBIs, including 10 stolen bases, this was in 2017. He still plays for the Milwaukee Brewers till date. For the 2018 season, he has played in 152 games recording .241 batting, 32 home runs, and 86 RBIs.

Salary

According to sources, Travis Shaw is on a one year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers worth a total sum of $567,400 and he is also said to earn the same amount as base salary.

Travis Shaw is a happily married man, he got married to his beautiful wife Lindy Berry in 2012. The couple has one child, a daughter named Ryann, who was born after five years into their marriage on the 5th of June 2017. At birth, Ryann was diagnosed with a critical health issue called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, this means that the left part of the baby’s heart is not functioning well. The baby eventually underwent two open heart surgeries conducted on June 9th and 10th after which she stayed in the hospital for four months.

As no news have been heard regarding any relapse in his baby’s condition, it is believed that Travis and his family are presently leading a happy family life.
