Tom Wilson Biography

It was on March 29, 1994, that he was born in Toronto, Ontario as Thomas Wilson. He was born into a home that was not alien to hockey as such it only made sense for him to grow up loving the sports and deciding to give it a try in life. This is as his father, Keven Wilson was also a hockey player.

Wilson was raised alongside his elder brother, Peter in Toronto. Since he was as young as just 2 years old, their father introduced the two boys to play hockey in the backyard of their Toronto home where he built a rink for them. Not much is known about Tom Wilson’s mum – Neville Wilson.

For his education, he attended the Plymouth High School. Although he has always had had his mind to play hockey, his parents had ensured that he gave priority to his education as well. As a result of that, he excelled with A grades in his studies while also making it as a player.

Tom now plays in the United States, while his family, including his brother, still resides in Toronto. They however, came to the United States to witness his first game after he began playing for the Washington Capitals in 2013.

Professional Career and Stats

Before making it to the NHL, Tom Wilson played for the Canada Ontario under-17 team with which he won the Gold medal at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge. Also, as an amateur, he played for the Plymouth Whalers in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). With good stats, 23 goals and 58 points, it was clear that he was on the rise.

Professionally, it was in 2013 that he made his start in the NHL against the New York Rangers. That was in the game 5 of the Cup playoffs

Looking at his stats, the first season of Wilson in the league saw him playing in 82 games, scoring 3 goals and making 10 assists. The next season, he made appearances in 67 games ending with 4 goals and 13 assists. The 2015/2016 season saw him making 82 appearances and seeing the back of the net 7 times with 16 assists.

Again in the 2016/2017 season, Tom Wilson played in 82 games, scoring 7 goals and providing 12 assists. The 2017/2018 season saw him performing in an exceptional manner with 14 goals and 21 assists from 78 games. With penalty minutes, he has always ended as one among the top 10.

In 2015, there were some reports linking the hockey player and Singer, Selena Gomez who had been in an on and off relationship with another Canadian, Justin Bieber. The reports suggested that the then 23-year old singer was crushing on the then 21-years old ice hockey player.

However, Wilson had even before then been in a relationship with Taylor Pischke who is a Canadian volleyball player.

Interestingly enough, years down the line, Wilson and Taylor Pischke are still together as a couple. Apart from her, the right wingman of the Washington Capitals has not been known to be with any woman publicly.

Tom Wilson is a player who has it as far as height and body weight is concerned. Like many other players in the NHL, he is tall and well built. Thanks to his build, he would have made it successfully in many other sports if he had chosen to have a secondary game beyond Hockey, or baseball and football that he plays a little.

In numbers, Tom stands at a massive 6 feet 4 inches and his body weight is 218 lbs. While his general body measurements have not been provided, you can bet that he is an intimidating player who has been described as a dirty player towards the opponents. In his career thus far, he has been suspended more than five times with one as a result of an incident that left Zach Aston-Reese with a broken jaw and concussion after a shoulder-to-head hit.
