Thomas Edward Llamas (pronounced Yahmiss) was born on July 2, 1979, in Miami, Florida to immigrants who fled Cuba in the 1960s. His nationality is American. Llamas graduated from the Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana with degrees in both Broadcast Journalism and Drama and Speech. In college, Tom was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon.
Years later, Tom enrolled at the University of Miami’s Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies where he completed a program that focused on Raul Castro and Cuban-American voters.
Fresh out of college, Tom began his journalism career at NBC News Specials Unit in New York. In a short while, he joined MSNBC where he covered mostly politics in addition to the war with Afghanistan and the 9/11 attacks.

With WNBC, Tom also covered the Earthquake in Haiti, Boston Marathon bombings, and the Times Square Bomb Scare.
Tom was employed by Walt Disney’s ABC News in 2014. He is the anchor of the weekend edition of “World News Tonight” in addition to being the Chief National Correspondent for all ABC news programs and platforms. He covered Republican candidates during the 2016 Presidential elections during which Donald Trump called him a sleaze.
