It will not be far-fetched to say that Tim McGraw was the best thing to happen to country music in the late 1990s and early 2000s, seeing that he was unarguably the best artist in the genre, in terms of commercial and critical acclaim, during that period. Some of his best hits in that time include singles like “It’s Your Love”, “Just to See You Smile”, and “Live Like You Were Dying”.

Tim McGraw was born on the 1st of May, 1967, in Delhi, Louisiana. His mother was a teenager at the time named Elizabeth Ann D’Agostino while his father was a professional baseball player named Tug McGraw. As the story goes, McGraw’s father and mother, who were never married, only had intimate relations on one occasion which led to her pregnancy. Because of this, her parents sent her away from their hometown of Jacksonville, Florida to Delhi, Louisiana to live with relatives.
In his development years, McGraw played a number of sports, specifically baseball. After high school, he enrolled at Northeast Louisiana University on a baseball scholarship, however, he suffered a knee injury that meant he was not going to be able to pursue a professional career. This prompted him to drop out of school to focus on a musical career as he had learned how to play the guitar and would occasionally sing for money.
In 1990, Tim McGraw recorded a demo tape and moved to Nashville, Tennessee in order to land a recording contract. His music was later heard by music executives at Curb Records who signed him to a deal, as the rest became history.

To put a figure to what he is worth, Celebrity Net Worth estimates that the three-time Grammy Award-winning singer has a net worth of $85 Million.
While McGraw certainly made most of his wealth from his music career, he has also earned a good portion from his acting career. He famously starred in films like Friday Night Lights (2004), The Kingdom (2007), and The Blind Side (2009) among others.
Family – Wife, (Faith Hill), Kids
Tim McGraw is married to five-time Grammy Award-winning country music singer, Faith Hill. It is not clear when exactly the pair first met each other, however, they became romantically involved in early 1996, when they both went on the Spontaneous Combustion Tour together. Hill was at the time engaged to her former producer, Scott Hendricks, while McGraw had reportedly just broken off an engagement.
Later on in the year, after Hill discovered that she was pregnant with McGraw’s child, the couple decided to exchange vows on the 6th of October, 1996. They have since welcomed a total of three children together, all girls. Their first is Gracie Katherine who was born in 1997, Maggie Elizabeth, who was born in 1998, and Audrey Caroline who they welcomed in 2001.
Dad – Tug McGraw
As mentioned above, McGraw’s father, Tug, was a professional baseball player. He is a two-time World Series champion who played for Major League Baseball teams like the New York Mets (1965–1974) and Philadelphia Phillies (1975–1984).
Tim McGraw grew up not knowing who his real father was, as he taught it was his mother’s husband at the time. At around the age of 11, he found out the truth, leaving his mother with no option of introducing him to his father. Tug was said to have, however, denied being the father for about 9 years, before later accepting and forming a tight relationship with his son.
After retiring from baseball, Tug went on to work as a sports anchor and reporter for a Philadelphia television station. In 2003, while working as an instructor for the Phillies, he was hospitalized with a brain tumor. A surgery, which was at the time thought to have been successful, was carried out to remove the tumor. After doctors had given him the go-ahead to live a long life, it was discovered that the tumor was not totally excised by the surgery, which prompted a malignant inoperable form to return. Tug McGraw lived for nine more months before passing away on the 5th of January, 2004.
