It was sometime in May 2016 that the Detroit Lions introduced Taylor Decker to the NFL world as an offensive tackle. The Ohio-born athlete was handed a $10.96 million deal with a $6.17 million bonus which would see him spend his first four years in the National Football League with the Michigan-based team.
Although Taylor finished his rookie campaign on a good note, bagging the Pro Football Writers Association (PFWA) All-Rookie Team honor, he still has a lot to accomplish if he must book his place in NFL history. While we keep up with him to see how he’d fare, here are the things to know about him.
Taylor Decker Bio
Taylor is the son of Ron and Sheila Decker and was born in Vandalia, Ohio on the 23rd of August, 1993. The Vandalia native was a student of Butler High School which was where he started taking football seriously, playing at the tackle position. If you check his records with the school, you’d find he was a regular starter for the school’s team. It is said that he was even ranked as the 23rd best offensive tackle in the country and as a four-star recruit by various platforms.
Initially, Taylor wanted to have his college career with the football team of the University of Notre Dame, but as fate would have it, March 2012 saw him became a student at Ohio State where he majored in Animal Sciences. More than that, he blazed for the Buckeyes from the tackle position for three years. Starting 42 games, he played 54 in total and was undoubtedly one of the finest playmakers for the Buckeyes.
His college career which spanned through 2012 to 2015 ended with him attaining a remarkable height in the profession. Whilst 2014 saw him become a CFP national champion, he gained massive attention and recognition the following year and it went a long way in assuring his selection in the first round of 2016 NFL Draft. In 2014, Taylor Decker was influential in the Buckeyes national championship campaign. For this reason, he got the 2nd Team All-Big Ten Conference honor. The next year, a good number of noteworthy outlets like CBS Sports and Associated Press named him in their unanimous First Team All-America selection. He equally got crowned as Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year and received the First Team All-Big Ten recognition that same year.
It was projected that Taylor Decker would be picked in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft and this came to pass when the Lions drafted him with the 16th overall pick.
Is He Married? Wife Or Girlfriend
Like the romantic partners of other NFL stars, people were thrilled to discover that the love of Taylor’s life, Bryn Toyama is gorgeous. If you witnessed the Lions’ presentation of the offensive tackle then you’ve already met Lady Toyama as she was the woman hanging around the athlete.
Bryn, like Taylor, attended Ohio State. From what we’ve learned, she studied Political Science at the university and later worked as an intern at the Ohio House of Representatives. Multiple pictures of the Detroit Lions’ star and his bae were circulated on social media platforms. Fans were mainly fascinated by the overwhelming disparity in height of the couple. In 2017, the two are engaged and were set to walk down the aisle in July 2018.
Even though the status of the Bryn-Taylor affair is not known to many, we can confirm that they are now man and wife. To the best of our knowledge, they officially became life partners sometime in July 2018 and, there is no doubt about Decker being proud of the woman he made his wife.
He shared on Instagram that he met Bryn on her birthday; adding that they got married in the same city they met, the offensive tackle thanked friends and family for making the occasion “perfectly unforgettable”.
