Although Taeyong has faced damaging controversies as a result of some of his past mistakes, the South Korean rapper has continued to rise above every obstacle to record success in his music career. Taeyong’s Bio (Age)
The musical artist whose full name is Lee Tae Yong was born on July 1, 1995. His birth occurred in the Gwanak District of Seoul, South Korea, where he was equally raised. For his education, Taeyond first went to Nam-Seoul Middle School, followed by Namgang High School. To hone his skills in the performing arts, he transferred to the School of Performing Arts Seoul. He graduated from the latter in the early 2010s.
He showed interest in music quite early and his parents helped by sending him to music school at the age of six. At eleven years old, he learned how to play the guitar, taking part in cultural events in his school at the time. These acts made him popular in school with both students and teachers forming a group of fans around him.
SM Entertainment took him under the stable in 2012, introducing him on December 3 the next year as a member of SM Rookies, alongside Seulgi and Jeno. In July 2014, he released the music video for a song he composed titled Open the Door. He was very busy in 2014 with his feature appearance on the reality TV series EXO 90: 2014, appearances in the music videos for Yo! and Missing You, and collaboration with Red Velvet group on Be Natural, released on October 13, 2014.
In 2016, NCT’s first unit, NCT U was created and Taeyong became one of the first six members, including Taeil, Doyoung, Ten, Jaehyun and Mark. The group released two singles the next week after their formation. The first song titled The Seventh Sense was released on 9th April, featuring Taeyong, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Mark, and Ten, while another hit dubbed Without You was dropped the next day – 10th April, as was performed by Taeil, Jaehyun and Doyoung.
NCT’s second unit, NCT 127 was created in July 2016 and they made their first appearance on television on July 7th, performing on Mnet’s music program M! Countdown. They sang Fire Truck and Once Again, derived from their extended play NCT #127. A few days after performing on the TV show, they released the EP on 10 July 2016 and it joined the rest on the Korean music chart.
A second EP titled Limitless was released on January 6, 2017. The song performed well at both the Korean and the US World charts, selling thousands of copies in South Korea. Taeyong co-wrote some of the songs on the collection and they include – Good Thing, Back 2 U, Baby Don’t Like It, and Angel. Another extended play was released by the NCT 127 on May 23, 2018, and it’s simply titled Chain.
More recently, the group released their first studio album on March 14, 2018. Titled NCT 2018 Empathy, some of the songs had Taeyong as a co-writer while The Seventh Sense joined the collection. The album peaked at #2 on the Korean music chart, selling more than 300,000 copies in the country.
The Seoul native values his family a lot and if there is anything he hates about his career, it’s the fact that it keeps him far from his folks at home. He has a younger sister to whom he is very close. They spent their younger days playing around and comforting each other when the times are hard. His sister named Hayun Ryu supposedly got married in 2015 and Taeyong was present with one of his cousins. Hayun is a Caste 2 Taekwondo black belt/Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt.

1. He is among the least tall members of NCT at a height of 175 cm.
2. He is a distant cousin to popular actor and television personality Hong Seok-cheon.
3. As a lyricist, he co-wrote many songs for his music group.
