When Stranger Things debuted in 2016, no one expected it to become the entertainment powerhouse that it is today. Not only is the show fun, nostalgic and unique with its manner of storytelling, but it also launched several of its stars into superstardom. Stranger Things is also responsible for reigniting Winona Ryder’s career.
Since its first season, Stranger Things took the world by storm and it has fans waiting impatiently for every new episode. With the first and second season in the bag, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming third season.
Stranger Things Season 3 Release Date
The first season of Stranger Things aired in July 2016, and the second season aired in October 2017. However, the third season is not expected to premiere until the summer of 2019. This will also be the longest break between seasons so far.
Sadly, filming for the third season did not start as early as the previous seasons, which has, in turn, affected the intended release date, although an exact date has not been given yet.
Given the success of the show, the budget for the third season is also higher than the previous seasons; this will allow grander special effects in the upcoming season which will require more work and time during post-production, influencing the release date as well.

Another cast member to join the show is Cary Elwes, an iconic American actor who is best known for his role in The Princess Bride. Cary Elwes will play the mayor of Hawkins where the show is set.
