Stephen Miller is an American political advisor from Santa Monica, California. Known for his radical right and anti-immigration political views, Miller’s first claim to fame dates back to 2006 during the widely reported Duke lacrosse criminal case in Durham, North Carolina.
It happened that three white students who were members of Duke University men’s lacrosse team were accused of rape by a black female student of North Carolina Central University who worked as a stripper. Stephen was a columnist for the Duke student newspaper, The Chronicle, and through it, he defended the lacrosse players before it emerged that they had been falsely accused.
The case gained him nationwide attention but his popularity soared in January 2016 when he joined the Donald Trump presidential campaign to serve as a senior policy adviser. When the 45th president of the United State assumed office, Miller served the administration as a senior advisor to the president and the White House director of speechwriting. He wrote Trump’s speech at the 2016 Republican National Convention and also contributed to his inaugural address.
The 37 Year Old Was Born and Bred In Santa Monica, California
As you would easily find, the political advisor is the second child of a real estate investor, Michael D. Miller, and his wife Miriam Glosser Miller. He was born on the 23rd of August 1985 and his place of birth was in Santa Monica, California, which is where he was raised. Stephen isn’t the only child of his parents: he has an older sister named Alexis Miller and a younger brother called Jacob Miller.
From what we gathered, Stephen Miller has always been drawn to politics, right from his high school days. He was a student of Santa Monica High School where he was quite popular for expressing his conservative views.
It is said that he embraced conservatism after he read “Gun, Crime, and Freedom”, a book written by the American gun rights lobbyist, Wayne Robert LaPierre Jr. who is also the CEO and Executive Vice President of the National Rifle Association (NRA). That wasn’t the only conservative book he had read at that point, he had also read “The Way Things Ought To Be” which he described as his favorite.
The New York Times bestseller was written by late conservative political commentator and radio personality, Rush Hudson Limbaugh III. Equipped with the sentiments he picked up from these books, Stephen Miller began appearing on conservative talk radio to spread these views while he was still in high school.
When he was done with high school, he decided to further his education at Duke University, a private research university located in Durham, North Carolina. For those who knew him in high school, it was no surprise that he studied political science. Stephen graduated with a degree in the field sometime in 2007.
The Famous Political Advisor Is Married to Katie Miller Who Is Also a Political Advisor
Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida sometime in 1991 or 1992, Katie Rose Miller (née Waldman) is also a political advisor like her husband. She is the daughter of an attorney, Glenn Waldman, and his wife Sheryl Waldman (née Bekoff).
Raised in Florida, Stephen Miller’s wife attended a public high school located in Weston, Florida – Cypress Bay High School. After she graduated from the school in 2010, she proceeded to the University of Florida and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Thereafter, she went to George Washington University and earned an MPP, Master of Public Policy. Her career dates back to 2014 when she worked as a press assistant for the National Republican Senatorial Committee. She climbed the career ladder and got to serve alongside her husband in the Trump administration. She served under the office of vice president Mike Pence as press secretary from October 2019 to May 2020. From the latter date, she served as the communications director for the vice president until the Biden administration assumed office in January 2021.
Katie and Stephen Miller Got Married In February 2020 and Are Now Parents to a Daughter Named Mackenzie Jay Miller
Details of where the political advisors met, and when and how they fell in love, are yet to be revealed. We can only confirm that they got married five blocks away from the White House in Washington, D.C., at the Trump Hotel on the 16th of February 2020.
Former President Donald Trump attended the wedding which was officiated by Rabbi Aryeh Lightstone. Sometime in May 2020, it emerged that they were expecting a child and on the 19th of November 2020, Katie and Stephen Miller welcomed a girl child named Mackenzie Jay Miller.
Stephen Miller’s Jewish Roots Has Been Traced to His Mother’s Ancestors
It is no secret that Stephen Miller is a Conservative Jew. As stated earlier, he picked up conservatism as a teenager and has held on to it quite firmly ever since. This is a bit of a surprise for some members of his family as his parents are known to be Democrats. His Jewish heritage has been traced to his mother’s ancestors – Wolf Lieb Glotzer and his wife named Bessie.
As the story goes, the Glotzer family are Jews originally from Belarus but immigrated to the United States of America to escape the anti-Jewish pogrom that had bedeviled Belarus and other parts of Imperial Russia. After the family settled in the United States in the early and mid-1900s, they worked for over 80 years before they emerged from poverty and became a prosperous clan.
Given this history of his mother’s side of the family, many have come to wonder why he has championed anti-immigration policies. Among other things, he reportedly prevented the publication of a study that indicated that refugees had had a good effect on government revenues.
During Donald Trump’s administration, he orchestrated the travel ban executive order and was said to be the brain behind the administration’s controversial policy of separating migrant children from their parents.
Unsurprisingly, some members of his Jewish family are displeased with his anti-immigration politics. His uncle Dr. David S. Glosser, a retired neuropsychologist, was so fed up with Stephen Miller’s stand on immigration that he wrote an article titled “Stephen Miller Is an Immigration Hypocrite”.
In the piece published on the 13th of August 2018, Glosser who was once a member of the Neurology faculties of Boston University School of Medicine and Jefferson Medical College established that he’s the brother of Stephen’s mother, Miriam Miller (née Glosser). He counted the Glosser family history, how they migrated from their home, Antopol, which is in present-day Belarus, to the United States.
