Seimone Augustus is not a name to overlook when basketball champions are being mentioned. Since her draft in the first overall pick into the Women National Basketball Association (WNBA) by the Minnesota Lynx in 2006 wherein she won the WNBA Rookie of the Year Award, she has continued to wow everyone with an outstanding command of the court.

Seimone plays as a forward and shooting guard for the team. Ten years after going pro, she was selected as one of WNBA’s top 20 best players ever in commemoration of the league’s twentieth anniversary in 2016.

Prior to the collegiate phase of her career, she established herself as a star in Capitol High School at her birthplace, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. During that time, Sports Illustrated compared her to one of the greatest basketball players of all time, Michael Jordan when they featured her on their cover with a headline that asked, Is She the Next Michael Jordan?

Seimone Augustus played college football in Louisiana State University and was inducted into the Louisiana High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.

While many gay people have chosen to stay in the closet and live behind closed doors, battling with being accepted by the larger community, many others have decided to be authentic every single moment they live. The basketball player is in the latter group and openly lesbian. Her sexual orientation is one she has seemingly been acquainted with since middle school. She has been one of the most out and vocal LGBTQ players in professional sports.

Since she kissed a girl for the first time in high school, the shooting guard has not had issues with facing who she is with all honesty and feels too comfortable in her orientation as much as she does in her skin. However, the whole dots connected when she met who would become her future partner, LaTaya Varner, in 2007. Seimone who describes herself as painfully shy credits fate for bringing them together as ordinarily, she wouldn’t be out in the Minneapolis club where they met for the first time.

Following a somewhat awkward moment between them then which they only look back to with delight now, she succeeded in getting LaTaya’s number before that night ended. Although they were anxious at first as they have dated people from their own inner circles prior to that time, their first date surprisingly got them well bonded, nothing could keep them apart thereafter.

The complete strangers on that first date turned out to become totally immersed in each other. They have grown unapologetically fond and proud of being lovers and are hopeful the flame won’t die out.

Seimone Augustus proposed to her partner in a Miami Beach in 2010. They got married in an intimate, traditional Hawaiian wedding ceremony on May 9, 2015, which can best be described as a dream come true for the couple.

Height, Weight, and Body Measurements

Height is arguably a major criterion in qualifying to become a player in most sports. That goes without saying that great talents and skills sometimes come in small packages.

Seimone Augustus falls in the category of height favored athletes. The Lynx star stands 6 feet (1.83 m) tall with a body weight of 170 lb. Other details of her body measurements are yet to be confirmed.
