With two enviable awards and six nominations to his name, it is very safe to say that Ryan Kwanten is already on his way to the top. The thespian began his journey in the movie industry in the early in 1991 when he made appearances in television shows like A Country Practice (1992), Spellbinder (1997) Hey Dad..! (1994, as Richard).

Kwanten was launched into immense popularity in the year 1997 when he joined the Australian soap opera, Home and Away as the fictional character Vinnie Patterson. While the show lasted, the actor was very exceptional and outstanding among his equals. Upon leaving the soap opera in 2002, he scored a gig in Summerland, an American teen drama series. Like in his previous series, his role as Jay Robertson was well played out to the admiration of the movie-viewing public and Summerland‘s producers/directors.

He has also shared screen time with film personalities such as Mischa Barton, Summer Glau, Maria Bello, Alison Lohman, Beau Bridges, Steve Zahn, Peter Dinklage, Tim McGraw, and many others. As a voice actor, he lent his voice to the 2010 animated-epic film Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole. He voiced Kludd in the film. Ryan was originally assigned to voice the protagonist Sorren but he later lost the role to Jim Sturgess.

Ryan Kwanten bagged his debut award nomination in the year 2009 at Scream Award event for Best Horror Actor in True Blood. In the same year, he walked home with his first film award which he received at the Satellite Award event for Best Ensemble, Television category. The following year, the thespian was equally nominated at the 2010 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

Other events where he was nominated for awards include Teen Choice Award (2010) for Choice TV Actor: Fantasy/Sci-Fi for his role in True Blood, Australian Film Institute Award (2010) as Best Actor for his role in True Blood, Film Critics Circle of Australia Award (2011) as Best Actor in Red Hill, and Kids’ Choice Award (2015) as favorite Voice in the animated film Blinky Bill The Movie. Ryan clinched his second career award at the 2010 Australian Film Awards in Breakthrough Award category.

The True Blood star was born Ryan Christian Kwanten in Sydney, Australia, on November 28, 1976, to Eddie Kwanten, an NSW Maritime worker, and Kris Kwanten, a Lifeline op shop coordinator. He is of Dutch ancestry and an Australian by nationality. Eddie (his mom) and Kris (his dad) are also parents to Ryan’s brothers – Mitchell Kwaten and Lloyd Kwaten. The former is a prominent musician while the latter is a medical practitioner.
Ryan finished his high school at St Paul’s Catholic College, in Manly, New South Wales, after which he enrolled at the University of Sydney, from where he obtained a degree in commerce.
