Roxann Dawson is an old name in the Hollywood film industry and would be most familiar to fans of the iconic science fiction series, Star Trek: Voyager – the fifth series in the Star Trek franchise which ran from January 1995 to May 2001 airing a total of 176 episodes. Dawson played one of the main characters, B’Elanna Torres – a half-human/half-Klingon. The role won her three ALMA Awards alongside other coveted nominations. Roxann Dawson – Bio, Age, Ethnicity

Roxann Dawson, upon her birth on the 11th of September 1964 in Los Angeles, California, was given the name Roxann Caballero. The American actress was born to Richard and Rosalie Caballero. Though Roxann has never revealed her ethnic background, chances are that she has roots from Latin America as her maiden name ‘Caballero’ is common among the Latinx community and means a “knight” or a “horseman” in Spanish.

Dawson is an alumnus of the University of California, Berkeley from where she graduated from in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theater Arts. As with most actresses that studied theater in college, Roxann Dawson immediately began her career after college as a stage actress and her debut role came in a 1982 Broadway production of A Chorus Line. She had roles in a handful of other plays before making her screen debut in an episode of the TV series, Another World.

Dawson then booked guest roles in other TV shows including Baywatch, Matlock, Equal Justice, and Jake and The Fat Man. She had a recurring role in The Round Table and in 1995, she landed what would become her breakthrough role in Star Trek: Voyage. After the show, she appeared in a number of other shows including Any Day Now, The Division, and Without A Trace.

In addition to TV shows, Dawson has also appeared in films, albeit only a few. Some of her films include Pointman (1994), and Darkman III: Die Darkman Die (1996).

Dawson’s activity as an actress began to wane after Voyage as she became more focused in filmmaking. She made her directorial debut in an episode of Star Trek: Voyager and has not looked back since. Some of her recent directorial credits include the TV shows Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Rosewood, The Path, among others. Her writing credits include the Tenebrea trilogy, co-written with Daniel Graham.

Roxann Dawson is enjoying a blissful family with her husband Eric Dawson and their daughters. As is often the case with actresses, Roxann met her husband on set. Her husband, Eric, is a casting director whom she met in the late 80s on the set of the TV series, Nightingales. In the series, Roxann played the role of Yolanda ‘Yolo’ Elena Puente for 13 episodes.

Roxann dated Eric for the next five years before they got married in May of 1994 and have since remained together. They welcomed their first child, Emma Rose Dawson on January 16, 1998. Two years later, Roxann Dawson and her husband welcomed the second member of their family, another daughter – Mia Meicai Dawson, who they adopted from China. The Dawsons live together in Los Angeles.

Roxann’s husband Eric is a native of Lincoln, Nebraska and was born on the 10th of June 1962 making him four years older than the actress. In addition to Nightingales, Eric Dawson has been the casting director for several other projects, among them are Supernatural, Quantico, American Horror Story, The Good Doctor, and more.

Though Eric’s marriage to Roxann was his first, it was the second for Roxann who was previously married to actor Casey Biggs. The short-lived marriage lasted for barely two years from 1985 to 1987. Like Roxann Dawson, Biggs is a well-known figure in the Star Trek community, however, their marriage had come to an end before either of them was cast in a Star Trek franchise. Biggs would go on to marry Brigit Binns in 2004.
