Reggie Miller is a former American professional basketball player and current NBA commentator for TNT. Miller was associated with Indiana Pacers where he is most notable for his three-point shooting prowess. His eighteen year NBA career was filled with remarkable and unparallel achievements. After Ray Allen, Reggie is the second player to hold the three-point field goals record. His constant lead in winning the New York Knicks earned him the nickname Knick Killer.

Miller had an outstanding career, he is considered the Indiana Pacers’ greatest player of all time, as well as, one of the best shooting guards of his time. He led the US team that won the 1996 Summer Olympics Gold medal and also made the NBA All-Stars list five times consecutively. Reggie Miller was born in Riverside, California in the United States on August 24, 1965, with a hip deformity which made it difficult for him to walk normally. He wore braces for a few years before the anomaly could be corrected. His family is well-grounded in athletics, he has four siblings and his father served in the US military. His brother Darrell played baseball for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim while his sister Tammy is a multi-talented Volleyball player. Cheryl was a pro basketball player and currently an analyst for Turner Sports while Saul Jr. pursued a career in music.

Miller went to Riverside Polytechnic High School after which he enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles. He obtained a degree in History and while at the school, he took part in major competitions for UCLA. In his junior year, Miller played for UCLA Bruins at the National Invitation Tournament. He also played for the Bruins at the 1987 NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament in his senior year. Miller finished second all-time, scoring behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He ended his college career with a single-season record for most league points, free throws, and highest league scoring average.

NBA Career

Reggie Miller was the 11th overall pick by the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the NBA draft of 1987. He wore the No 31 jersey for the Pacers playing alongside the second shooting guard John Long. Miller improved himself so much that he became a scoring threat for the Pacers. He set a scoring record of 57 points in a game against Charlotte Hornets in 1992. The record still stands as Pacers’ team record to date; he is the second player behind Michael Jordan who holds a record of 64 points in a game.

Miller led the Pacers to a win over Cleveland Cavaliers and Knicks to qualify for the Eastern Conference Finals. At the finals, they faced the defending champion Michael Jordan‘s Bulls in 1998. He also featured in the Pacers’ first and only NBA Finals in 2000, facing the Los Angeles Lakers that was led by Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal. The Pacers lost 4-2 to Lakers and Miller finished with an average of 24.3 points.

He played his last game on May 19, 2005, against the Detroit Pistons in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. He received a standing ovation when it was 15.7 seconds to the end of the game. Upon retirement, Miller joined TNT as an NBA analyst. He began hosting NBA Shows including NBA coverage and also answers Reggie’s Mailbag. Additionally, Miller has appeared as a contributor to The Dan Patrick’Show on ESPN Radio, as well as, a co-host on Live with Regis and Kelly.
