Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s Marriage

Johnny Depp is an award-winning American actor, producer and musician best known for his appearance on hit movies and TV series like Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, 21 Jump Street, Pirates of the Caribbean, Finding Neverland, and many others. He is also popular for being a member of the rock band called Hollywood Vampires.

Born as John Christopher Depp II on the 9th day of June 1963, the multi-talented star began his career in 1984 and has been active in Hollywood for over three decades and counting. Johnny and Amber first crossed each other’s paths in 2009 while they were on set for the production of the 2011 film, The Rum Diary.

The Texas-born actress is famously known for her role in movies such as The Rum Diary, Aquaman, Friday Night Lights, The Informers, and All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, among others. She began her career in 2004 and has been active in the industry for over a little over a decade. She played the female lead role in The Rum Diary opposite Johnny Depp.

Seeing their on-screen connection, the pair decided to take things to the next level, hence starting a romantic relationship. This continued for a few years and the news of their relationship dominated media headlines for a long time. However, three years later, the lovebirds announced their engagement. Afterward, they went on to seal their love in 2015.

Their wedding took place on Johnny’s private island located in the Bahamas. The ceremony was graced by their close pals and family members including Depp’s two children. Although the couple pledged to love and cherish each other until death, their relationship didn’t last much longer as the news of their divorce flooded the media only 15 months after their wedding.

Johnny Depp And Amber Heard’s Divorce

In May 2016, just three days after Johnny Depp’s mother kicked the bucket, news surfaced that Amber Heard had filed for divorce from Depp citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their divorce. This happened after they have been together for a year and few months. The actress equally filed for a restraining order against him, alleging that he was verbally and physically abusive toward her. In reaction to the lawsuit, Depp’s lawyers stated that she was making things up in order to secure a premature financial resolution.

While their contentious divorce preceding lingered for several months, Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose Depp and his ex-partner, Vanessa Paradis came to his defense saying that Johnny cannot hurt a woman. However, in early 2017, their divorce process was finalized with the court asking Johnny Depp to pay Heard a sum of $7 million in settlements. In addition, she would also be keeping their two dogs Pistol and Boo as well as a horse called Arrow.

Furthermore, Johnny Depp will retain sole possession of his real estate assets which included properties in Paris, Los Angeles, and the Bahamas. He will also keep over 40 vehicles and vessels which included motorcycle collection and vintage cars.

Post Divorce

After their divorce, Amber Heard disclosed that the money she got in the divorce settlement would be given to charity, particularly those whose focus is to stop violence against women. They include the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles where she has been an ambassador.

While there is no news of Johnny Depp’s subsequent relationships, Amber Heard started a relationship with Elon Musk, the tech entrepreneur. The pair was together for several months until early 2018. Although these two are now divorced, the feud between Jonny Depp and Amber Heard has continued to rage. In 2019, Johnny filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Amber for an article she wrote for The Washington Post in 2018. In the article, she referred to herself as a victim of domestic violence and abusive relationship without mentioning Depp’s name, however, he was particular she was referring to him.
