Rachael May Taylor was born to Christine and Nigel Taylor on the 11th day of July 1984 as her parents’ only child. She was born and raised in Launceston, a city in the Island state of Tasmania, Australia. There, she attended Riverside High School. Taylor had ambitions of becoming an actress right from childhood, however, she first got into modeling as a teenager. She got signed to the Skye-Jilly International agency and she competed in the Miss Teen Tasmania and the Miss Universe/Miss World state finals.

Taylor enrolled to study History and Politics at the University of Sydney and while at it, she continued to pursue her modeling and acting career. In 2004, she marked her acting debut on the telefilm The Mystery of Natalie Wood after which she appeared in several other TV productions. When she eventually got the role of Sasha Forbes on the drama series headLand (2005-06), she had to quit college to concentrate on her acting.

In 2005, Rachael Taylor marked her big screen debut in the horror film Man-Thing (2005) after which she starred in another horror flick See No Evil (2006). She got one of her biggest career roles when she portrayed the character Maggie Madsen in the blockbuster film Transformers (2007) alongside Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox. Taylor also got the chance to reprise her role in the Transformers sequel but she turned it down, however, she starred in several other films afterwards the most notable of which are Shutter (2008), Bottle Shock (2008), Red Dog (2011) and the Sci-Fi thriller The Darkest Hour (2011). Apparently, the Australian-born actress has garnered quite a number of horror film credits to her name.

In 2011, she played the recurring role of Dr. Lucy Fields on the long-running medical series Grey’s Anatomy. She also appeared in the reboot of the action series Charlie’s Angels (2011) and she was the lead star of the one-season long supernatural series 666 Park Avenue (2012-13). Rachael Taylor was also on the main cast of the action series Crisis (2014) in which she portrayed the character Agent Susie Dunn.

Taylor’s most notable television role is her role as Patricia “Trish” Walker on the web series Jessica Jones (2015-). She has also reprised the role in some other series including the superhero web series The Defenders (2017).
