In 2013, she was named the 1st Runner-up but only made it to the top 15 the following year (2014) and the fact that she didn’t go home with the crown caused a controversy. Proving the third time really is the charm, in 2015, she went home with the crown. She was named Miss Universe Philippines and thus, went on to compete in the Miss Universe Pageant held in Las Vegas, Nevada in the same year. After pleasing the judges with her answers, she won the Miss Universe title – even though the host, Steve Harvey, by error, announced Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner. This win took Pia to Indonesia, Canada, Ecuador, Cayman Islands, Panama, Singapore and several cities across the United States. She was also placed as a judge on pageant shows such as Miss Peru 2016 and Miss Universe 2017. She also appeared as a guest judge on several episodes of Asia’s Top Next Model.
