Born on the 18th of November, 1970 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, she is the daughter of Karlene White and Darcy Wilson who named her Peta Gia Wilson. Her mother is a caterer while her father worked as a Warrant Officer in the Australian Army. She spent part of her early years in Papua New Guinea where her father was stationed for several years. Peta has a younger brother, Rob who also works in the Australian Army as a truck driver. Their parents separated in 1982.
