He is more of a chef than an actor, but like the rest of his siblings, Paul Wahlberg has found a way to achieve some notable mentions for himself in the movie and entertainment industry. And all of this, while juggling his career as the owner of a chain of restaurants across the country.
Paul comes from a massive family and learned the value of having people around from a young age. The chef cum actor/TV personality has appeared in a series of movies such as Max Payne, The Happening and the reality TV show Wahlburgers. The later is based off the restaurant chain he built with two of his brothers, Mark Wahlberg and Donnie Wahlberg.
Paul Wahlberg’s Bio
A native of Massachusetts, Paul was born in Dorchester, Boston on March 20, 1964. From an early age, it was clear that Paul wasn’t going to be like any of his siblings. While his younger brothers were dreaming of a future on the red carpet, he was better served to spend time with his mother in the kitchen. By the time he was 10, he could already cook most of his mother’s basic recipes and would often throw new ingredients together to come up with new recipes.
A year or two after his 10th year, he was over at a friend’s house when a serving of an Eggplant Parmesan sandwich made him realize he wouldn’t mind becoming a chef. At his mother’s advise, he set out to do just that.
While still in high school, Paul took up employment as a caterer in a friend’s family owned restaurant where he washed dishes. Upon the end of his high school education, he would spend time in various kitchens sprawled around his hometown. These included The Charles Hotel and The Four Seasons. He would then spend almost a decade at Bridgeman’s – a kitchen in Hull, Massachusetts, serving as the kitchen’s Executive Chef.
Personal Business Endeavors
After his time with Bridgeman’s, Paul Wahlberg opened up his first solo restaurant named Alma Nove, a nod to his love for his mother who gave birth to eight other children.
His most popular and successful venture yet came with the launch of Wahlburgers, a casual dining restaurant and bar chain that he started with his younger brothers Mark and Donnie. They opened the first Wahlburgers restaurant close to the Alma Nove, in Hingham, Massachusetts. They would eventually spread into international territory when they opened another in Toronto, Canada in 2014.
As of mid-2018, the restaurant chain has become a huge hit in the country with 26 restaurants across states like Florida, New York, South Carolina, North Carolina, Minnesota, and Illinois with a lot more being planned.
The overwhelming success of this franchise drew attention from beyond the food industry. In 2014, a reality television show based on the chain was on A&E Networks. The show followed the lives of Paul and his brothers as they struggled to run the ever-expanding restaurant chain. As of August 8, 2018, the show had aired for nine seasons totaling 84 episodes.
As a chef, and thanks to the Wahlberg name, Paul Wahlberg has also been hired to serve food on the sets of many popular movies including two movies in 2008 in which his brother, Mark, played major roles. The chef has also been on the television series Rachel Ray and Anderson Live.
For all his endeavors as a chef, an actor and television star, it is easy to see why various sources evaluate his him to be worth anywhere from $1.5 million to $5 million.
Family: Parents and Siblings
This was the chef’s first training ground in the area of social interaction. He comes from a family that boasts nine children, himself included. Three of them are step-siblings from his father’s first marriage.
Paul was born to Alma and Donald Wahlberg. While his mother was a clerk, his father who was a war veteran was employed as a delivery driver. They would eventually split up in 1982 but the family stayed very close and did everything together.
The family is quite a massive one. His mother, Alma had nine children for his father. They are Mark Wahlberg, Donnie Wahlberg, Robert Wahlberg, Jim Wahlberg, Arthur Wahlberg, Tracey Wahlberg, Debbie Wahlberg, and Michelle Wahlberg. He also has three step-siblings from his father’s first marriage: Donna Wahlberg, Scott Wahlberg, and Buddy Wahlberg. Paul lost one of his sisters Debbie Wahlberg in 2003 and his father followed in 2008.
His four brothers, Arthur, Robert, Mark, and Donnie are making a living in the entertainment industry. The oldest Wahlberg brother, Arthur is an actor known for movies like The Rude, the Mad and the Funny; Target; and 10, while Robert is a producer and actor and is known for movie projects like Scenes of the Crime; Mystic River; Gone Baby Gone; and Equalizer.
The two most successful brothers in the entertainment industry are his younger brothers Mark Wahlberg and Donnie Wahlberg. Mark is the most popular actor in the family with movies like Planet of the Apes; The Italian Job; Daddy’s Home and its sequel; Ted and its sequel; and the Transformers movie franchise. Donnie has played roles in movies like The Sixth Sense; Annapolis; Dead Silence; Zookeeper; the Blue Bloods series and the Saw. Both Mark and Donnie are also producers, musicians, and songwriters and businessmen as evidenced by their joint partnership with Paul to launch their Wahlburgers restaurant chain.
Is He Married? Wife and kids
Paul does not really like media attention except he can’t help it. Perhaps this is why he maintains a strict divide between his career and his personal life and this includes his wife and kids. The A-list chef is married – exactly for how long is unknown – and has two kids with his wife, Madison and Ethan Wahlberg.
He has decided that he will let his kids choose whose path they would love to follow, either his or that of his famous Hollywood brothers.
What is Paul Wahlberg’s Height?
Paul possesses a diminutive stature and is visibly shorter than his brothers whenever he is standing beside them. The Boston native stands at a height of 5 feet 2 inches which converts to about 1.57 m. He weighs 78 kg with his brown pair of eyes and brown hair.
