Noah Spence’s Biography

Beyond Noah’s good speed maintenance, endurance, and reputation as an intelligent player, his age is regarded as one of the factors that would propel him towards stepping out of the NFL world a fulfilled man. As he was born on the 8th of January and in the year 1994, it is widely held that the defensive end player has all the time he wants to assert himself as much as he desires in the league.

Given that details of his family background and upbringing are hard to come by, we can tell that Noah was birthed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania which was equally where he was brought up. As he has always been a fan of football, he joined the football team of the private Catholic school he attended – Bishop McDevitt High School. It was immediately apparent that he was cut out for the sport. By the time he was set to move on from high school, Spence could boast of 35.5 sacks and 204 tackles. His performance earned him widespread attention and it was only natural it equally brought him a handful of coveted accolades.

Apart from receiving several ratings as a five-star recruit, he made the Parade Magazine’s All-America list and was vastly considered a national top 5 prospect. In addition to that, he was regarded as the N0. 2 defensive end prospect in the nation and even got honored as Gatorade Football Player of the Year. This was after he emerged twice as the state of Pennsylvania’s defensive player of the year as well as its No. 1 player.

As one would expect, a good number of colleges came calling to have Noah have his college career with them. Looking out for his interest, Spence decided to embrace the offer from Ohio State University. Mounting the defensive end position for the Buckeyes in 2012 as a true freshman, Noah featured in 11 games for the team and was able to pull off a sack and 12 tackles. He became a better player the next season and led his team in sacks and tackles for loss earning for himself various recognition including the first-team All-Big Ten Conference and Academic All-Big Ten honors.

It was anticipated that he’d have brighter days with the Buckeyes but this failed to come to pass as Noah tested positive for Ecstasy; this was in December 2013. He was punished with a 3-games suspension and everyone imagined the chap has learned his lesson. But then, about nine months later, he again tested positive for Ecstacy. This earned him an indefinite suspension. Noah went to rehab and with the support of both of his parents (Helen and Greg Spence) who worked as juvenile probation officers, he was able to clean himself up. The defensive end transferred to Eastern Kentucky University where he had the last season of his college career with the Colonels. That year (2005), he accumulated a total of 11.5 sacks and 63 tackles. For the record, he was crowned as the Ohio Valley Conference co-Defensive Player of the Year.

Noah availed himself for the 2016 NFL Draft and was eventually drafted as the 39th overall pick in the second round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although it wouldn’t be wrong for one to assert that Noah is yet to achieve anything significant since he kicked off his professional career, it’d be unfair to deny he’s proven his potentials as a fine defensive end. This was partly why he was named the Defensive Rookie of the Month in November 2016. Even as the shoulder injury he suffered in 2017 sideline him for a while, Noah Spence’s NFL career stats as of 2017 boasts of 31 total tackles, 6.5 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles.
