Mike Seidel has proved his significance as a reputable weatherman since the early ’90s. Working as a Meteorologist at The Weather Channel for so many years, he has not only gained widespread recognition from stakeholders but has also created a distinctive identity for himself on the weather reporting space. Reporting the weather was never something Seidel went into by chance, he always knew what he wanted to become at a very young age. It has been an interesting career journey for the meteorologist. Mike Seidel – Bio (Age)

He was born on January 18, 1956, in Salisbury, Maryland to his parents whose names are not known. Mike Seidel attended Wicomico Senior High School after which he proceeded to Salisbury State College for his higher education. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics after a successful stay in the school. Mike’s inclination towards the weather started at a very young age.

By the time he was six, he was already fond of measuring snowfall in Salisbury where he grew up. It didn’t end there, Mike wowed everyone when he installed a weather station on the roof of his house. Surprisingly, he was in his eighth grade at the time. It was clear to the people close to him, the path he would possibly walk in the future. When the time came for him to choose a career path, Seidel did not hesitate to follow his instincts. He had also majored in geography during his time at Salisbury State College.

While at the school, Mike Seidel also worked with some radio stations in his hometown; this helped him gain more experience. After his first degree, he proceeded to Pennsylvania State University where he got his master’s degree in Meteorology. He got further exposed to weather reporting during his master’s programme at Pennsylvania. At the time, he worked under Dr. Greg Forbes, who later became a weather expert on The Weather Channel. He also made appearances on the ‘Weather World’ which aired on the Pennsylvania Public TV network.

In the early ’80s, Mike Seidel who was already done with school and had garnered lots of experiences during his training days joined WYFF-TV in Greenville, South Carolina as a full-time weatherman. This was after he had worked with WMDT-TV for two years. The ace meteorologist worked at WYFF-TV for over five years, leaving in 1989 for WBOC-TV in Salisbury. He later left the outfit in 1992 to join The Weather Channel. In 1996, he did his first storm coverage during the Hurricane Edouard.

Career Achievements of The Meteorologist

The talented weatherman has been a regular face on The Weather Channel with his coverage of over 50 tropical storms, hurricanes, tornadoes, ice storms, and many others. Mike Seidel became the first Weather Channel meteorologist to report live from Cuba. This was during the ‘Tropical Storm Isaac’ that rocked the country in mid-2012. Mike’s coverage of the storm, as a matter of fact, did not only make him the first Weather Channel meteorologist to report live from Cuba, but also the first US meteorologist to achieve that feat.

Mike’s January 12, 2018, coverage of snowstorm in Rochester, NY was his 20,000th live shot as a meteorologist; a remarkable milestone indeed. He has appeared on various network programs serving apt, accurate and intriguing weather reports, while at The Weather Channel. Some of these programmes include; CBS TV programs like The Early Show, The CBS Evening News and CBS Sunday Morning, NBC-TV’s Today Show, NBC Nightly News, and many others.

Mike Seidel is still in the business of weather reporting and intends to do more with The Weather Channel.

Mike Seidel’s Wife and Kids

Seidel’s engagements with several television networks do not eat into his treasured time with his family. He is happily married to his wife Christine Schroder. The couple tied the knot in 1994 during the early days of Mike Seidel’s career, and have been together since then. Their marriage of over twenty years has indeed made them a model for younger couples. Mike and Christine have two children together; Sam and Zoe.

Mike Seidel’s well-proportioned body gives him suiting image on-screen and even in real life. He stands at a height of 5 feet 9 inches and weighs a 79 kg.
