His father is a Korean War Veteran who has a Bronze Star he received in 1953 to show for it. He would later run a group of gas stations with his wife and 6 kids. Thus young Pence was raised in a hardworking yet simple American family.

Political Failures And Successes

After law school, he was an attorney in private practice who was unsuccessful for a congressional seat in 1988 and in 1990. By 1991 however, Mike Pence became the president of the Indiana Policy Review Foundation till he left in 1993. Before this, he has begun hosting a talk show radio programme in Rushville Indiana. He also hosted a weekend political talk show from Indianapolis from 1995 to 1999 and all these media engagements gave him some on-air popularity and doused his unsuccessful foray in politics.

In the millennial year 2000, he got things right politically by winning the seat in Indiana’s 2nd congressional district after the 6 years incumbent David M. McIntosh had opted to run for the seat of Indiana’s governor. He was popular in office for opposing some of then-President George W. Bush policies, perhaps that was what led to his re-election a couple of times in 2006, 2008 and 2010 house elections.

During this time, he started climbing the party’s leadership structure as he was elected the Republican Conference Chairman in January 2009. This is the third highest ranking Republican position in the America of today. Though during his 12 years inhabitation of the House, he introduced 90 bills and resolutions which unfortunately never became law.

He became Governor of Indiana from 2013 through 2017. He was elected Vice President of the United States of America on November 8, 2016, and was sworn in as the 48th Vice President of America and 6th Vice President of America from Indiana.

Mike Pence’s Sexual Orientation

Mike Pence is married to his wife named Karen Pence, therefore he is certainly not gay. He holds a stern opinion to the rights of LGBT much to his Christian religious beliefs. Perhaps that is one of the things which endeared him to Donald Trump.

He is of the view that homosexuals shouldn’t serve in the military as according to him, homosexuality is incompatible with military service because the presence of homosexuals in the ranks weakens unit cohesion.

He also holds the opinion that state funds shouldn’t be used to fund organizations which advocate for LGBT people rather, it should be used to assist organizations which are committed to helping people who are retracing their sexual identity.
