Michelle Rodriguez’s first appearance in a movie was in the 2000 sports film Girlfight where she portrayed the role of Diana Guzman – a temperamental young girl who decides to channel her rage and aggression into training as a boxer. Rodriguez’s full name is Mayte Michelle Rodriguez and she was born in San Antonio, Texas, on the 12th day of July 1978. Her father Rafael Rodriguez is a native of Puerto Rico and her mother Carmen Milady Rodriguez is Dominican. She has ten siblings and half-siblings too.

From the age of eight to eleven, she lived in the Dominican Republic with her mother and would later live in Puerto Rico until the age of seventeen when she finally settled down in  Jersey City, New Jersey, NJ. Before earning her GED, Michelle Rodriguez was expelled from five different schools.

With the sole aim of becoming a screenwriter and director, she attended business school but soon abandoned it to chase her dreams of becoming a Hollywood actress.

Her other movies include Battle in Seattle, Trópico de Sangre, 3 A.M., Machete, The Assignment, Battle: Los Angeles, Machete Kills, Alita: Battle Angel, among many others. Michelle is also a voice actress who has lent her voice in Cartoon Network series IGPX, as Liz Ricarro, she was the voice of Marine in the video game Halo 2 and also voiced a character in Turbo (a DreamWorks Animation). For one year, Rodriguez portrayed Ana Lucia Cortez on the TV series Lost.
