Micheline Roquebrune: Bio
Micheline Roquebrune was born on April 4, 1929, in Edinburg, Scotland. Of Moroccan and French descent, Micheline mastered the French language when she was very young. Spanish was another language she learned before she later became conversant with the English language. Growing up, Micheline was very much drawn to sports; golf, to be precise. Young Roquebrune played in a lot of golf tournaments while she was still a teenager.
Interestingly, winning some of the tournaments did not quench her growing desire for painting. When she was in her early 20s, she started tilting her attention towards painting. Inspired by ‘Le Bonheur de Vivre’, she devised her own approach, using simplified forms and unusual croppings in her paintings.
It started as just an interest and on a small scale until she made enough paintings for her own exhibitions. Micheline then grew from a painter next door to an international artist touring different countries like France, the US, Greece, and many others, and holding large scale exhibitions.
Although she made a career out of painting, Micheline Roquebrune also tested waters in the movie world, mostly after she met her husband Sean Connery. Alongside Sean, in 2002, she featured in a German documentary titled Sean Connery, An Intimate Portrait. She also appeared on 20h10 Pétantes, a French talk show in 2005.
