Mark Margolis was born on November 26, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US. His parents have been identified as Isidore and Fanya Margolis. His family is Jewish, and they migrated to the United States of America from Europe. He was educated at Temple University in Philadelphia, just before he moved to New York City to pursue his dream. He then studied drama at the prestigious Actors Studio in the Manhattan neighbourhood of New York.
He married his sweetheart, Jacquelin, in 1962 and they have been married for the past 57 years. They both have a son, Morgan Margolis who was born in 1966.

Emergency Brain Surgery
While filming on the set of popular television series Better Call Saul, Mark reportedly fell down and had to be rushed to the hospital. While in the Emergency Room, doctors discovered a minor swelling in his brain via a scan and had to perform a routine procedure to address this. After the surgery, and while recovering from its effects, Mark had to pull out of a few movie roles, that he was earlier billed to star in.
Primetime Emmy Award Nomination
Mark Margolis was nominated in 2012 for a Primetime Emmy Award in the “Best Actor in a Drama Series” category, but his nomination was removed because he had featured in 5 out of 10 episodes of the popular television series Better Call Saul. A change made to the Emmy award rules called the “50% Guest Star Rule” had his nomination recalled from votes. This rule seeks to limit the chances of recurrent actors in a television series winning this award against other actors who had genuine guest star roles. Mark stars as Hector Salamanca, a high ranking member of the drug cartel, in the television series Better Call Saul. He has been featuring on the series since Season 2.
