Once married to a man considered a living legend across various career spheres, it might be easy to assume that Maria Shriver is just one of those people who tapped into their spouse’s popularity. On the contrary, she knew fame right from childhood. She was born into a very powerful family – the Kennedy clan, as a niece of former United States President, John F. Kennedy. She also became a celebrated journalist and writer and she equally served as the First Lady of California, alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, her then husband.

For more than twenty years, Shriver was married to Arnold Schwarzenegger until an ugly truth from the past led to their separation and what would have been one of Hollywood’s marriages to look up to, came to an end in 2011. More details about this and what she has been up to are all available below.

Net Worth

With an attractive resume which includes versatile jobs as an American journalist, author who also served as the First Lady of California for two terms, it’s no surprise that Maria Shiver has an estimated net worth of $100 million. Uncles And Family Members

From her mother’s side, Maria Shriver has ties with one of the most powerful families in the United States of America. She has many uncles but some stand out from the rest. The 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy is her uncle and her mother’s brother. Shriver’s mother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, also connects her to more uncles including 64th U.S. Attorney General and U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy, as well as U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy, among other prominent members of the family.

Maria Shiver has four brothers from her parents – politician Sargent Shriver and Eunice Kennedy Shriver, an activist in her time. Her brothers are Timothy, Mark, Anthony and Bobby Shriver. The Shriver bunch are all doing well in their respective careers.

Maria Shriver was once married to a man of many hats – Austrian-American actor, filmmaker, businessman, investor, author, philanthropist, activist, former professional bodybuilder and ex-governor of California. In case it’s yet to sink in, his name is Arnold Schwarzenegger and they met through a mutual friend at her mother’s residence in 1977. Their union produced four children – Katherine Eunice, Christina Maria Aurelia, Patrick Arnold, and Christopher Schwarzenegger but unknown to his family, the Hollywood bigshot had a love child tucked away. He later owned up to his affair with one of their household staff, Mildred Patricia Baena which led to the birth of a child. His confession came after Shriver approached him with facts about the affair and he couldn’t deny them.

Subsequently, the Hollywood power couple went their separate ways on May 9, 2011, following 25 years of marriage. Shriver took it further by filing for divorce on July 1, 2011, on the grounds of “irreconcilable differences”. She is said to be dating Matthew Dowd – Arnold’s former strategist at his 2006 re-election campaign.
