The talented actress was born on 30th July 1963 and spent her early days in California where she went to Portola Middle School in Tarzana, California. She later proceeded to Taft High School in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles then Vassar College where she studied Biology. She is said to have had intentions to follow in her father’s career as a headache specialist, hence, she worked at his Institute for about 8 years before switching to the film industry. She credits her change of career to the comedian Jon Lovitz who encouraged her to start as a comedian by joining The Groundlings comedy school located in Los Angeles. She began performing with the comedy group the Transformers.
In 1989, Lisa was featured in the pilot of the series Married to the Mob and that same year, she landed her first sitcom Cheers and Just Temporary. She landed several other guest appearances during that period in sitcoms like Newhart Sada, Life Goes On, Murder in High Places, Room for Two, Mad About You in which she appeared from 1993 to 1999, Flying Blind and Bob. She was also in the series Coach for a year before landing her popular role as Phoebe Buffay in the series Friends that ran from 1994 to 2004.
