Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart are both American actors; the former has been active in the movie industry since 1993 when he began playing Patrick Kelly in Grace Under Fire, an ABC sitcom that aired from 1993 to 1998.

Since then, she has pulled off dozens of roles across the small and big screens but her most notable roles are as Annabelle in the 2019 crime comedy-drama film, Hustler, and Betty Cooper in Riverdale. Riverdale began airing on the 26th of January 2017 to positive reviews. The CW show quickly gained a massive fan base with Cole and Lili becoming the favorite couple on the show. Before the month ran out, it was already being rumored that the actors were lovers in real life. Although there was nothing that called for this claim, except that the two had been seen together in public, February 2017 gave people reasons to suspect that there was more to them other than friendship.
In the said month, the actress shared a sexy picture of herself on Twitter and captioned it with a peach emoji. In August 2017, Lili Reinhart took to Instagram to celebrate Sprouse’s 25th birthday in a way that reinforced the belief that they were dating. She related that the actor had shown her more beautiful places the previous year than she had ever seen in her entire life, thanking him for the adventures they’ve had and expressed hope to have many more. However, nothing changed thereafter as they continued to avoid questions about what is going on between them.
November came and Cole Sprouse was featured in People’s Sexiest Man Alive issue. In an interview that followed, the actor refused to confirm the relationship, contending that he had to preserve his privacy and stop people from feeling they are entitled to know about what goes on in his personal life. Cole marked his 28th birthday on the 4th of August 2020. Lili Reinhart didn’t share any post on her social media pages to celebrate him as she had done in the previous years. This gave rise to speculations about a break up which Sprouse confirmed on the 19th of that same month in an Instagram post.
The actor related that he and Lili initially separated in January of 2020 and “decided to more permanently split in March”. While one can conclude from what he shared that they had an amicable breakup, what led to it has been left to speculation.
A few weeks later, Reinhart had an interview with Refinery29 wherein she discussed several things that revolve around the struggles she has faced. Some of the things she said were linked with her breakup with Cole but she wasted no time in dismissing this. She tweeted that she was talking about her struggles with depression, adding that she would never be open about a breakup in such a manner.
