Lil Wayne is an American hip hop artiste who rose to prominence as the youngest member of the southern hip-hop group called Hot Boys, signed under the Cash Money Record label.
Widely known for his slurry style of rapping, Lil Wayne was the flagship artiste of Bryan Williams owned record label before he ended his long-tenure contract with the company in June 2018. His sixth album, Tha Carter III (2008) garnered him the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. So far, it is his most successful album as it recorded over one million copy sales in its first week in the United States.
Dwayne Michael Carter Jr was born on September 27, 1982, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Lollipop crooner was raised in a not well to do family. His mother was a cook and gave birth to him at age 19 and Wayne was only 2 years old when his parent got divorced and his father, Dwayne Carter abandoned the family permanently.
The rapper has been open about his resentment for his biological father. During an interview with CBS, he explained that he rather be Wayne than Dwayne, since the older man has never been in his life. When asked if his father knows of his existence Wayne said: “he knows now.”
Growing up in the impoverish Hollygrove neighborhood, Wayne began to rap at a very young age. Although he attended McMain Magnet School, Wayne dropped out to focus on music at age 14. One notable tragic event of his childhood was the time he accidentally shot himself with a 9 mm handgun. However, he survived after an off-duty police officer Robert Hoobler took him to the hospital. Wayne was only 12.
In 1991, Lil Wayne crossed path with Cash Money Records’ brothers, Bryan and Slim Williams who took him under their wing. With his zeal and rapping talents, his debut album Get It How U Live, with the Hot Boys group was released in 1996. Ever since then, Lil Wayne has remained a big deal. He is $150 million richer, and a father of four kids; married once to Antonia Wright (2004 – 2006) but now single and retired from music to pursue other interests.
That interest is yet to be revealed; whether dating again is one of them is not clear but here’s a breakdown of Wayne’s relationships with women over the years.
Lil Wayne’s Relationship Through The Years
Amidst his growing fame, Wayne has mingled and dated a couple of women. Over the years, the rapper has been romantically linked to up to 22 women – he only married one.
As a matter of fact, Lil Wayne has been the lover boy since age 16 when he had his first child, Reginae with his high school girlfriend, the woman he later made a life partner. They got married on Valentine’s day in 2004 and the marriage lasted until 2006.
He started dating actress and model Lauren London who bore him his third child Cameron Carter on September 9, 2009. Lil later got involved with singer Nivea Hamilton and she gave birth to his fourth child, Neal on November 30; the same year as his third child. Then he also got rapper Trina pregnant but she miscarried.
Lil Wayne and Dhea met in at Phoenix nightclub in 2011 and started dating but it wasn’t meant to be so they split. Then Nicky Minaj came into the picture and it seems their relationship was more of business than romance. As expected, eyes were roaming and tongues started wagging about a romance going on, but neither of them doused the rumor.
More than mere rumors, Wayne started dating Christina Milian in 2014 and it was all good until 2015. Other women that were in Wayne’s life include Candace Cabrera (2010 to 2014); Kat Stacks who claimed she slept with the rapper; Dana Lee and Wayne were romantically tangled for some years; there was Zena Foster too, from 2009 to 2010.
The relationship between Tammy Torres and Wayne got more than controversial after it was revealed she cheated on him with his very own protege, Drake. It was complicated because Wayne was in prison for alleged gun possession at the time. He and the model were together from 2009 – 2011 and according to him, hearing the confession from Drake while in prison was the worse thing that no man deserves to experience.
While he nursed his broken heart and wounded pride, Wayne left several women nursing theirs too. The star has been linked to a good number of other women including Shenelle, Farrah Franklin, Karrine Steffans, Lauren London, and Meagan Good.
