She was born on March 16, 1967, to her parents; Donna Grant, (mother) and Lawrence Graham (father), in Honolulu Hawaii. Lauren is of Irish, English and Scottish descent. At a young age of 5, her parents got divorced and she had to move with her father to Virginia. She attended Langley High School and graduated in 1984. While in the school, her acting talent began to manifest through her school’s drill team. She attended the Bam Theatre in Michigan where she underwent two years summer training in performing arts and earned her actor’s Equity Card afterwards. She then proceeded to Barnard College of Columbia University where she bagged a degree in English Literature. Lauren didn’t stop there, she went ahead to get a masters degree in Acting Performance at the Southern Methodist University.

Lauren’s career kicked off in the 90s when she moved back to California. She started by featuring in TV commercials for different products. She then started to make appearances on TV shows including Caroline in the City, 3rd Rock from the Sun,  Senfield, and many others.

Lauren Graham made her big break in 2000 when she starred as Lorelai Gilmore in the comedy-drama Gilmore Girls.
